Maumee Watershed District
November 25, 2015
Dear ,

Black Friday, November 27

10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Sylvania First United Methodist Church, 7000 Erie St., across from Plummer Pool

Sylvania First is revolutionizing Black Friday with a Black Friday Shop for Charity event. The church will serve as a marketplace for vendors who will give a portion of their proceeds for the day to charity.
Black Friday is the traditional start of the Christmas buying frenzy, which can overshadow the good news of Jesus's birth. By purchasing presents at the Black Friday Shop for Charity, shoppers can give two gifts with each purchase - each gift for a loved one is also a gift to a non-profit organization. Each vendor has already chosen a non-profit or charity, and this will be clearly noted at their table. Shoppers can browse by charity as well as by gift item.
For more information on this event, see the MWD webpage by clicking here!

Dear West Ohio Conference United Methodist Churches,

This letter is to remind you about one of our United Methodist Women's national missions that is in our conference - The Friendly Center.  Some of you may have heard of it, but there are some that have not!  It's PURPOSE:  No neighbor will go hungry, feel alienated, alone or powerless.

It is located in a needy area of Toledo and serves a large part of the inner city. The Friendly Center has been serving families since 1923. The Friendly Center is a faith based, 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization serving the North Toledo, Ohio area. The Friendly Center operates in collaboration with the national United Methodist Women with offices based in New York. There are nearly 100 National Mission Institutions supported by United Methodist Women Mission. These institutions empower adults, care for children, educate youth, look after the neglected, advocate for social justice issues, create economic opportunities and improve neighborhoods. The Toledo Friendly Center is one of their missions. The Methodist Connection continues on the local level with support from the West Ohio Conference plus many of Maumee Watershed and North Plains district churches.

In today's times the Friendly Center's resources are being stretched thin.We are asking all of the churches in West Ohio Conference for their support, whether you have a UMW unit or not. We would like to challenge churches either individually or in partnership with another church to raise $100 in the next 3 months for the Friendly Center. Won't you please prayerfully consider this challenge to help our national mission to be able to continue its much needed services?

If you accept this challenge, please mail your check to: Terry Robideau, MWD President, 1200 Wildflower Drive, Metamora, Ohio 43540 per Amelia Gibbons, Director of Friendly Center, request. Please make your check out to the Toledo Friendly Center and you will receive a thank you. Your caring is greatly appreciated!
