Circles of Grace
We are not of one mind when discussing human sexuality and the United Methodist Church. Specifically, the issues of ordination and homosexuality have proven to be particularly divisive.
Beginning this Sunday, all clergy and laity of the West Ohio Conference are invited to participate in a respectful, grace-filled conversation called Circles of Grace around these issues. We pray these conversations are the beginning of a way forward as we strive to minister together in unity rather than division.
Please prayerfully consider being a part of these intentional opportunities for dialogue. Any learnings from this Circles of Grace process will become a resource to the Annual Conference's life, including the 2016 General and Jurisdictional Conference Delegates as well as the Extended Cabinet and the Board of Ordained Ministry. For more information or to find registration information, visit the MWD webpage by clicking here!
Circles of Grace conversations will be held at the following locations, beginning promptly at 7:00 p.m. and lasting two hours:
September 27 - Grove City UMC
September 28 - Jackson Christ UMC
September 29 - Middletown Christ UMC
September 30 - The DOCK at Findlay St Mark's UMC

Tools for Ministry
I love tools! Tools for my hobbies - fishing, woodworking, yard work. But most importantly tools for ministry. It is hard to do work without the proper tools. This is also very true for our work in ministry.
Rae Lynn and I value your work and want to do all we can in the District Office to equip you with the tools you need for exciting and fruitful ministry. This survey is a way for you to communicate to us the tools you feel you are needing at the present time. We will then do all we can to supply those necessary tools.
Ephesians 4:11-12 And he gave some to be apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; (12) for the perfecting of the saints, unto the work of ministering, unto the building up of the body of Christ...
Grace to you,
Rev. Scot Ocke & Rev. Rae Lynn Schleif
This survey may be filled out online or by printing the attachment and sending it to the district office.

Lay Servant Training
We are inviting all laity who enjoy learning and deepening their faith through study to consider attending one of the courses offered Friday evening and Saturday, October 23 and 24 at Widewater Retreat Center. Four courses will be offered: 1) prayer, 2) living our beliefs, 3 )discovering ways to demonstrate and proclaim the love of God as a lay servant, and 4) a practicum for those who may feel called to preach. Yes, these are the named courses for this fall's Lay Servant Ministry, but, did you know you can take a course in which you have interest without enrolling to become a trained Lay Servant?
So, which one do you want to take to enrich your relationship with Jesus Christ and your walk as a disciple? You are invited to go to the Maumee Watershed website for more information and how to sign up by clicking here! P.S. If you are interested in becoming a lay servant the course you want to take is "Lay Servant ministries-Basic Course."
