Greetings!
A recent passing...The Maumee Watershed District Office will be closed until Monday, December 1 for Thanksgiving. |
Raise Some Cash Vol. 5 At The Village Idiot
Raise Some Cash Vol. 5 will be held Sunday December 7th from 2-8pm at the Village Idiot, 309 Conant Street in downtown Maumee. As the name implies, this is the fifth in a series of fundraisers for Feed Your Neighbor, a food pantry program of Toledo Area Ministries. Each musical act will perform one or more songs associated with the late country music legend Johnny Cash. This year's musical line- up includes: Dave Carpenter, Minglewood Labor Camp, Old State Line, The Thirsty Hooligans, Locoweed and Kentucky Chrome. The event is open to the public, including children with parents. A $5 donation is suggested at the door. The event will include raffle prizes and event t-shirts. Participating visual artists include Streetspun Yarnbombing and Dani Herrera. Event sponsors include ERD Graphics, Toledo.com, Toledo Free Press, Culture Clash Records, Durdel's Music and Thrivent Financial. Click here for Flyer.
p.s. they serve the BEST pizza!

Mike Slaughter, Pastor at Ginghamsburg UMC in Tipp City is often quoted for his alternative giving slogan, "Christmas: It's Not Your Birthday!" United Methodists around the world have heard that message and have responded with generous gifts to mission on behalf of loved ones who simply don't need another tie or knick-knack.
In response to all the Black Friday hype that surrounds the epic retailing day-after-Thanksgiving, the UMC is offering a chance for you to resist the self-indulgent spirit of our age with the self-giving spirit of Christ for the sake of his kingdom.
On Tuesday, December 2, 2014, United Methodists around the world will unite in giving to mission. Last year on Giving Tuesday, 16,300 gifts were given through The Advance, totaling $6.5 million. This year, the first $1 million in giving on December 2 will be matched dollar for dollar by Global Ministries, put to $2,500 per project, ministry, or missionary support. All you have to do is log on to www.umcmission.org/give on Tuesday, December 2 between 12 a.m. And 11:59 p.m., select a mission or missionary, and give online. It's that simple.
I probably won't be up at 12:01 on Christmas morning waiting for Santa, but I will be up that early with my finger on the give button to multiply our mission through The Advance on December 2. Join me on UMC #GivingTuesday!
Peace,
Tom Rand

For Clergy Only...
Not far from you is a place that can offer opportunity for personal retreat and renewal. West Ohio has three camp and retreat centers that operate year round. I want to invite you to spend time at Camp Widewater to let God claim you as you claim God again in your ministry. This may be a time to rest, to pray, maybe even to work on worship planning or other needs in your spiritual leadership. You are invited to spend a day hiking the trails, sitting by the water, or stay overnight, rest and let us care for you. Click here for the full details.
