Please add the MWD Henderson Settlement VIM Trip to your prayer list this next week. The team is made up of 22 people representing 7 different churches across the district and beyond. They will be leaving September 28 and returning October 4.

Since Casey Smith is leading the team, there will not be a MWD E-News next week. Look for the October 8th edition. This is a working trip so you can reach her by email. Watch the FaceBook page for pictures. Like us on Facebook
Resisting Evil, Injustice, and Oppression

Recently, there has been a media spotlight cast on the issue of domestic violence after a video of NFL star running back RayRice assaulting his fiancée was posted online.  The response of the NFL and of his team has been deplorable.  The knee-jerk response to unseemly things seems to be to cover them up, to keep quiet, to hope it will go away.

For millions of women and children each year, the hidden reality of domestic violence is a crime that will never go away.  Even if they are able to escape the horrors of it, the trauma may last a lifetime.  And nobody wants to talk about it.
