Footwashing Service
Thursday, April 17th
Trilby UMC at 5918 Secor Road, Toledo, will have a community meal open to the public at 5:00 PM on Thursday, April 17 followed by a footwashing service in the sanctuary. Persons attending just the footwashing service should arrive between 6:00 and 6:15. Persons can attend the service and not participate in the footwashing service. Reservations are not needed for either the meal or the service. After a brief meditation using John 13, persons will remove their shoes and socks and in pairs, go to the chancel area for a very moving experience. In provides a great blessing built upon humbling ourselves before God.
Pastor Larry Swaisgood is inviting persons to supply 15 or more towels for this service. We are soliciting towels that are 16 x 25 inch hand towels that are white terry cloth. Please bring them to the MW District office. Pastor Larry will go to the district office on Monday, April 14 to pick up the towels where we will pray over them. The invitation for towels is primarily to widen the circle of participation and use towels that are prayed over for this sacred service. Thanks so much for participating by supplying towels, attending the service or both.

UM MEN'S TRUCK FUND The District UMMen met on March 27th at Uncle John's Pancake House. After a delicious meal of one's own choosing, business was conducted. The sale of Easter flowers was discussed and what the monies was designated for. Another subject was the truck fund. Eulan informed us that it was down to about $300.00 and monies were not coming in from the churches. This is very sad as the truck does a lot to minister to the hungry in our area. I can only appeal to the churches of the MWD to pray about this. May God show you the way to help feed the hungry. In Bishop Julius Trimble's article for the UMMen magazine, "How to revitalize your church", he gives Six Pathways to Revitalize. His #2 is to be Doers. Quote: The plague of inertia is killing our churches. John Wesley would re-word his "Three General Rules" from "Do no harm, do good, and stay in love with God" to "Do no harm, but for God's sake do something!" Pick a God size task that can only be completed with His help and with the hands and feet of most of the congregation. May God bless you as congregations, as groups, or as individuals to help the UMMen to keep ministering to the hungry of our area. We cannot do what we do without people like you. Please help us to keep our truck on the road.
Send funds to: Eulan Tucker, 3322 Stafford, Oregon OH 43616 or get them to the district office marked TRUCK FUND. |
