Responding to Downtown's Street Population

A workshop for downtown business owners and employees
 
Please join the Chamber's downtown committee for this informative workshop that will educate members of the downtown business community on the unique needs and issues of downtown Manchester's street population. The workshop will feature expert panelists on the various street populations. Participants will leave with an understanding of the key issues and factors that affect downtown's street population, as well as specific strategies, tactics and resource materials to assist and respond to these populations in related "real world" situations.

Populations discussed include:
* Homeless individuals
* Panhandlers
* Loiterers/street people
* Teens and other youth
* Individuals with substance abuse issues
* Individuals with mental issues
* Individuals with behavioral issues
* Individuals fitting within two or more of the above categories

Joseph Pepe, MD is the President and Chief Executive Officer of CMC Healthcare System which includes Catholic Medical Center, a 330 bed acute care hospital, the New England Heart Institute, and several subsidiaries including physician practices and an ambulatory surgery partnership with 30 surgeons.

Ali Rafieymehr assumed his role as dean and director of the University of New Hampshire at Manchester in July of 2012. As the chief academic and administrative officer, Dr. Rafieymehr is responsible for promoting academic excellence and community engagement with business and community organizations in the greater Manchester and Merrimack Valley region of New Hampshire.

Jessie Levine recently accepted the position of Town Manager for the Town of Bedford. Prior to that she served as the Assistant Town Manager and Human Resources Director in Hanover and prior to that she was the Town Administrator for 10 years in New London. Levine is an active member of the Municipal Managers Association of NH and the International City & County Management Association and she's involved in a number of civic and community service organizations.
