The Building Trades Build Construction Careers

Greetings!

The building and construction trades represent some of the nation’s most highly skilled craftsmen and women. Their demanding and exacting work creates many of the magnificent high-rises and bridges that define our cities. In addition, they pave and patch the highways and roads that crisscross America and keeps us moving. Their unwavering dedication to quality, craftsmanship, and safety has produced an unrivaled pathway to the middle class for hundreds of thousands of building trades members across this great country.

This week Labor 411 salutes the industry that created an inspiring network of apprenticeship programs that make up the largest career training program after the U.S. military. And they also brought us Helmets to Hardhats, a program that helps those in the Armed Forces get a job and establish a career when they return home.

Here’s to our building trades members, who do it all for us every day.

See our Union Spotlight below for some historic examples of their work and what they are accomplishing today.

                                                            In solidarity,

The Building and Construction Trades

Astounding displays of modern engineering and beautiful historical structures are forever coupled with union construction work. San Francisco’s Golden Gate Bridge was union built, as well as the famous Gateway Arch in St. Louis. Union construction continues today in modern marvels like the new Bay Bridge in S.F. and the new World Trade Center skyscrapers in New York City. We’ve put together a list of the locals working on that project to highlight the monumental union team effort.ion of International Workers’ Day, Labor 411 has put together world-cuisine themed list of products that have their roots in a handful of the countries celebrating May 1.
