FDR & the Academy Awards: All About Unions

Greetings!

The Academy Awards is this Sunday, Feb. 24, and while it is definitely a star-studded event, it’s even more so a union-studded event: film crews, actors, stagehands, musicians and more are all union members. Check out our product spotlight below for the perfect Oscar party accompaniments.

And now with the passing of another Presidents’ Day, it is appropriate to highlight another upcoming anniversary that has major historical significance to unions, labor and the rights of all working men and women. March 4 marks the 80th anniversary of the inauguration of President Franklin D. Roosevelt, a true champion for the middle class.

FDR came into office with the daunting task of lifting the American economy out of a depression and succeeded by implementing policies that changed the landscape of labor and gave the everyday working person a fighting chance. He boldly proclaimed, “No business which depends for existence on paying less than living wages to its workers has any right to continue in this country.”

At Labor 411, these are the tenets that we fight for today in a world of unions that is constantly under fire. Join with us and remember to Buy Union Made using the most extensive products and services guide in the country at Labor411.org.

                                                            In solidarity,

                                                            Labor 411

Words of Wisdom

“In our personal ambitions we are individualists. But in our seeking for economic and political progress as a nation, we all go up or else all go down as one people.”
