5th Annual GvHD National Medical Symposium "A Day of Education for Patients and Families" 

 

The Case Comprehensive Cancer Center and the Meredith A. Cowden Foundation are bringing a national educational conference on Graft vs. Host Disease (GvHD) to Cleveland on Friday, April 24, 2015, 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., at the Embassy Suites Cleveland-Rockside, 5800 Rockside Woods Blvd., Independence, Ohio.

 

Who should attend:

The symposium is open to both the general public and healthcare professionals. It features two tracks:  a scientifically rigorous one for physicians and other medical practitioners, and a patient track focusing on bone marrow transplant recipients and their families.

Admission is free of charge for cancer survivors and their families.  Registration for healthcare professionals (includes CME credits), is $100 for physicians and pharmacists, $75 for nurses and other healthcare professionals and $25 for students.  Reservations are required for survivors, families, caregivers and healthcare professionals.  Online registration is available at www.gvhdsymposium.org

Meet Our new Executive Director!

Peggy Burkhard recently joined our staff as Executive Director. She holds a Bachelors Degree from St. Bonaventure University in Mass Communication and most recently had been a public relations and marketing consultant for many non-profits, including the Donate Life Coalition of Michigan. We are fortunate to have Peggy as part of our staff and are happy to welcome her to nbmtLINK. She has an impressive background in the nonprofit world, and in particular, with advocacy organizations. This is a free service offered by the National Bone Marrow Transplant Link. Emotional support is available through telephone conversations with trained peer support volunteers (PSV) who are BMT survivors, and caregivers. If you would like to request a phone call from a PSV, please call our office at 800-546-5268 and ask for Cindy Goldman, or click on the "Request Peer Support" link in the left hand column under Support Services.

The National Foundation for Transplants (NFT) 

 

The National Foundation for Transplants is the featured partner organization on www.ExploreBMT.org; NFT provides fundraising expertise to transplant patients by organizing fundraising campaigns in the patients' own communities. Check out this online tool for direct access to a variety of transplant resources.

The nbmtLINK welcomes University of Iowa Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center to our group of distinguished LINK Partners!  Located in Iowa City, Iowa, the Blood and Marrow Transplant Program performs an average of 200 transplants a year and provides life-long post transplant monitoring and care.
