Gross Catholic High School
Gross Catholic High School
Greetings!

"Mary held in her arms the God of love,

that we might hold in our hearts the love of God."

This Christmas message was sent to Gross Catholic from fellow Marianist school, Chaminade College Preparatory in Chatsworth, California. These words so beautifully describe the role of Mary as Mother as she embraces her Son and all of us. It is in her arms we gain strength and support. It is in her arms we find comfort. It is in her arms we find love. Devotion to Mary is the foundation upon which our Marianist heritage is built. This devotion to Mary unites all Marianist schools throughout the world and can certainly be experienced within our Gross Catholic community. It permeates our halls and classrooms, is visibly present inside and outside our school, and can be witnessed in the daily activities of our students, faculty and staff.

January 1 marks the "Solemnity of Mary" and the start of a New Year full of hope and promise. Our hope for you and your family, for all of 2013, is the continued embrace of our Mother, love in your hearts, and God's blessings upon you. Our promise is to keep you in our prayers as we remember, with love, our Cougar family. As always, we are grateful for the gifts we have been given and we look forward to the bright future we share with all of you.

Blessings today and throughout the New Year,

Dr. Dorothy Ostrowski

President

From the Principal

schultz During Christmas break is a good time to reflect on the previous semester. It seems like just yesterday we had a new group of freshman entering the doors of Gross Catholic. It has been a successful fall semester. I would like to thank the students, staff, parents and community members who contribute so much in helping to create an atmosphere of excellence at Gross Catholic High School.

We have had a productive beginning to the academic year. Staff and students are engaged in teaching and learning in the classrooms. The fall athletic season was very successful and winter sports have begun. We have had musical celebrations and a great fall musical. There are many activities that our students and teachers continue to be involved in during the school year.

Many of our students, both as individuals and as members of clubs, generously give of their time, talent and money to help ensure the holidays are enjoyed by all. They work with families in need to donate food baskets and gifts, share time with senior citizens and participate in other activities all in the spirit of bringing in the new year with hope and compassion.

It is my hope that you were able to spend the Christmas break with family and friends, and that you come back this semester rested, rejuvenated and ready to learn. I wish you a very Happy New Year.

Sincerely,

John Schultz
Principal

As the Universal Church celebrates a Year of Faith our Cougar Family celebrates years of faith by highlighting our alumni who have chosen to live their faith through consecrated religious life or ordination.

We have been blessed through the years with a number of religious vocations and have two men currently studying for the priesthood with the Archdiocese of Omaha. Please continue to pray for more Cougars to answer the call.
