Saco, Maine - With less than six weeks until Opening Day, Maine's largest amusement and water park is already thinking about summer fun in the sun.
"The park needs to fill about 200 positions before we open for our 50th season on Saturday May 7," said Cory Hutchinson, general manager of the parks. "We are looking for people who are motivated to provide outstanding service for the hundreds of thousands of guests we will see this summer."
Seasonal positions at the park include ride operation, lifeguard, water slide attendant, food services, medical response (EMT), security, retail, cashier, game attendant, and park supervisors. "We offer great wages, plus we hold employee events, provide discounts both in the park and to other parks around New England, and a lot more. People who have worked here have said this is the best job they have ever had," said Hutchinson.
"For some applicants, this will be their first-ever job interview, and its always a great idea to put your best foot forward when meeting with a potential employer for the first time," said Hutchinson.
Some tips for teens to ace a job interview...
- Dress appropriately. Clothes that you wear to the mall or with friends might not be suitable for a job interview.
- Be prepared to talk about yourself. Practice answering interview questions with a friend or family member. Remember that you are selling yourself.
- Be polite, and don't use slang words. Say "Yes" and "No".
- Be aware of your body language. Sit up in the chair; no slouching. Make eye contact with your interviewer.
- No gum chewing during the interview.
- Make sure you know what your available to work this summer. Ask your parents now if they are planning a family vacation. It's good to let your interviewer know ahead of time.
The Job Fair will be held on Saturday, April 9, 2016 from 9am to 4pm at the Ramada at Saco Plaza's Conference Center, 352 North Street in Saco.
