The community is invited to the Day of Caring and a brief program will be held at 12:00 Noon where the 2014-15 Community Campaign Goal will be announced. The program will be led by the 2014-15 United Way of Tompkins County
Community Campaign Co-Chairs Lisa Whitaker, CFCU Community Credit Union; Carl Sgrecci, Community Volunteer; and Hannah Wildenstein, Tompkins Cortland Community College '15.
The Day of Caring is a community-wide effort to gather non-perishable food, personal care items, pet food, and school supplies. All donations will be distributed throughout Tompkins County. Last year, over 14,000 pounds were collected and distributed.

Cornell University Student United Way (SUW) Co-Chair Elizabeth Joyce joined student leaders from around the world at United Way Worldwide in Virginia for the 2014 Student United Way Leadership Retreat. As a recipient of the "GIVE Promising Practices Award," Elizabeth shared Cornell SUW's knowledge and experience with attendees. Elizabeth and her fellow Student United Way leaders participated in workshops in fundraising, marketing, advocacy and volunteering. She even made her own Literacy Kit to bring back to Tompkins County to help make reading fun and interactive for kids!

Thirty Organizations "Set the Pace" for the UWTC Community Campaign

The 2014-15 Pacesetters are off and running! Pacesetters are employers who "set the pace" by conducting their United Way corporate and employee campaigns in mid-summer before the Day of Caring and Community Campaign Kickoff.

This October: Community Oil Change at Maguire Family of Dealerships Supports United Way of Tompkins County
This October when you get your oil changed at Maguire Family of Dealerships a portion of the proceeds will benefit United Way of Tompkins County.

Cornell University Homecoming Supports the Community and UWTC
To kick off Cornell's Sesquicentennial celebrations, October 17-19, UWTC is partnering in three family friendly events open to the public. Proceeds from these events will benefit local programs and services through United Way.
A Cappella United
Thursday, October 16 8:15-11PM @ Bailey Hall
Homecoming 5k Saturday, October 18 8:30AM @ Cornell Plantations
- Fun run open to the public of all ages
- Pre-register to run online for $15 before October 10. After this date the price increases to $20 and t-shirts are not guaranteed
- Proceeds support United Way of Tompkins County

Family Fun Zone
Saturday, October 18 Noon-3PM @ Lynah Lot
- Families are invited to participate in an assortment of free, interactive, and educational events geared toward all ages including demonstrations from many of the colleges and units, face painting, balloon making and more
- Cornell Student United Way will have a table and will give out balloons, tattoos and other Live United items
