Theology On Tap will meet Friday, June 17, at 7:00 pm.

Parish Prayer List

Our plan is to have any prayer requests printed in the bulletin for 3 months maximum.

After that time requests for a continuation for a further 3 months can be made. Names can also be transferred over to the Order of the Daughters of the King, St. Brigid Chapter, for daily prayer.

Our first 3-month list will begin in our bulletin on September 4. Thanking you all for your cooperation.

FATHER'S DAY BREAKFAST

fathers-day-breakfast

The ladies of ECW will be giving the men of the church the day off for Father's Day. The breakfast on June 19 will be cooked and served by the women of St. Columba's. If you can help in cooking, providing a side item, (hash brown casserole, grits casserole, or sweets), or serving the breakfast, please contact Allison Bronk ([email protected]; 404-840-0113).

Summer Faith Formation Offerings for Adults

Sunday Mornings

SUMMER ADULT EDUCATION

After the 10:00 Mass from June 5 to July 3, Fr. Ben and our distinguished verger, the Hon. Jerry Adams, will lead "Paging Through the Book of Common Prayer."

This is a discussion seminar on our American prayer book, beginning with the title page and seeing where they end up. Please grab a cup of coffee and join us as many weeks as you can.

NEW OUTREACH PROGRAM

We are beginning a parish relationship with our neighbors at Antebellum Assisted Living, a new senior living facility on James Burgess Rd. Providing a Wednesday morning bible study is the first step in building this new relationship. Please contact Deacon Bob ([email protected]), or Fr. Ben ([email protected]) if you are interested in helping to launch and lead this new program.

St. Columba's Choir
The Choir enjoys their summer off, but will start up again this fall.

The Choir is searching for singers of all voice parts. Rehearsals will resume on July 28 (Thursdays, 7:00-8:45 pm). Prospective singers are welcome to attend one or more rehearsals before deciding. For more information, please speak with Daniel Hahn after Mass or at the office (770-888-4464 x8003 or [email protected]).

Prayer Shawls

prayer-shawl

Prayer shawls will be available in the Narthex on Sunday, June 12. If you need a prayer shawl before then or for more information contact Diane Millott ([email protected] or 678-455-7355).

Prayer shawls are available on the second Sunday of each month except July.

Don't forget your summer donations

all are named As you enjoy the summer season, please consider continuing your parish donations with the use of automatic payments while you are away.

Financially summer is our greatest challenge.  Weekly donations decrease with increased parishioner vacations, yet our expenses continue and are even higher (air conditioning and water) during the summer months.

Please consider paying your weekly pledges ahead of time, mail your pledges to the church in care of the treasurer, or set up on-line bill pay with your bank.  If you have any questions or need assistance, please reach out to our treasurer Jeannie Lamp [email protected]

Food Pantry Ministry

Many thanks to St. Columba's parishioners and others who donated to our food pantry in May. We provided 211 pounds of food to The Place of Forsyth County. We will also be providing June's donations of non-perishable food to The Place, collecting food each week leading up to the 3rd Sunday of the month (June 19-Breakfast Sunday), which is the official collection day for the month. PLEASE remember that, with school out for the summer, the need definitely goes up as children do not benefit from free/reduced breakfast and lunch at school-please help during these important summer months.

We'll continue with the same list of needs as in recent months-"hearty" or "chunky" soups, canned or boxed milk, and canned pasta (ravioli, Beefaroni, etc). Other needs include canned vegetables, canned fruit, spaghetti sauce, peanut butter, and other items that can be stored for a long period of time. Donations can be placed in the tubs located next to the welcome table in the narthex-no glass bottles, please. Please begin or continue to help in this effort to assist local families in need-thank you!
