Will You Watch With Me One Hour?
|
Vigil Watch at the Altar of Repose The sign up for Maundy Thursday's All Night Silent Vigil is at the Welcome Table and you can also sign up online (click here). By tradition, we keep watch with our Lord at the Altar of Repose in preparation for Good Friday.
This ancient and moving experience is open to everyone in the parish. Our goal is to make sure each hour has someone keeping watch with our Lord, but as many as would like can keep watch at one time. A deputy sheriff will be on duty in the parking lot throughout the night.
Consider making this a part of your Easter preparation this year!

First Communion Class Retreat
|
This Saturday, March 12 9:00 - 11:00
First Communion Mass is this coming Sunday (3/13) at 9:00 am. The children have been preparing for this wonderful occasion by attending a weekly class this winter and will gather for their half-day retreat on Saturday, March 12 from 9:00 - 11:00 am. Please join in thanking Kristen Weems who leads our First Communion Class each year and coordinates our Catechesis of the Good Shepherd program, which is our Sunday school program for preschool and elementary grades. Kristen does a fantastic job and we are forever indebted to her for sharing her gift of teaching with so many of our children! *** A reception for the class and their families will follow the 9:00 Mass in the Narthex. If you would like to attend the reception or have any questions, please contact Christine Burrell (email).

Food Pantry Ministry
|
Thanks to St. Columba's parishioners and others, including those in the weekly Tai Chi class, who supported food pantry donations in February that totaled 363 pounds of food that was delivered to Emmaus House - thank you!! We will be providing March's donations of non-perishable food to The Place of Forsyth County, collecting food each week leading up to the 3rd Sunday of the month (March 20th - Breakfast Sunday), which is the official collection day for the month. PLEASE NOTE...thanks again to Tom Dillon for an updated needs list at The Place. Chronic shortages there are for 'hearty' or 'chunky' soups, canned or boxed milk, and canned pasta (ravioli, Beefaroni, etc). Other needs include canned vegetables, canned fruit, spaghetti sauce, peanut butter, and other items that can be stored for a long period of time. Donations can be placed in the tubs located next to the welcome table in the narthex - no glass bottles, please! Please begin or continue to help in this effort to assist local families in need - thank you!"
