This Sunday, January 11 @ 5pm Join us on Sunday, January 11 at 5pm for a parish dinner and our annual meeting. Smoked boston pork butt will be the main dish - a preview of the Knights of Columba's "Butts for the Bowl" event. At the annual meeting we will hear how the Good News has been proclaimed in all of our parish ministries and guilds and in our common life together as a parish community. VESTRY ELECTIONS
During the annual meeting, we will also have the opportunity to elect four members to the parish vestry. If you would like to nominate yourself or some one else to stand for election, contact Todd Reid or Lorraine Ferguson, or speak with Father Tripp. To be eligible to serve on vestry you must be an adult member of the parish, have made and maintained a financial commitment, and able to attend the monthly vestry meeting. Vestry meets on the 3rd Monday of each month and goes on retreat the last weekend in January of each year. for more information.

Outreach Ministry News

"Well done, thou good and faithful servant..." December was a great end to the year for St. Columba's food pantry donations, collecting 295 pounds of food that was delivered to The Place of Forsyth County - thank you!! This brought our 2014 total to 3,046 pounds of food!! Since starting this ministry in November 2011, St. Columba's efforts have provided over 9,000 pounds of food to local food pantries - thanks so very much for your generosity! Let's continue expanding this important ministry in 2015!!
We will be providing January's donations non-perishable food to Emmaus House, collecting food each week leading up to the 3rd Sunday of the month (January 18th - Breakfast Sunday), which is the official collection day for the month. Biggest needs are canned soups and vegetables, canned pasta (ravioli, Beefaroni, etc), canned fruit, spaghetti sauce, peanut butter, and anything that can be stored for a long period of time. Donations can be placed in the tubs located next to the welcome table in the narthex - no glass bottles, please! Please begin or continue to help in this effort to assist local families in need - thank you!

Lenten Devotional Booklet
Written for our parish by the men, women and youth of our parish!
Daily devotions are going to be written by members of our St. Columba's parish family, will focus on scripture for each day of Lent and will be delivered to your email inbox each morning of Lent. They will contain stories of faith, love, courage, seeking and of finding. Your gift of time in sharing YOUR story will enrich OUR parish family and help us to create these Lenten devotions. If you volunteer to write a short devotional, you'll be given a choice of scripture verses and will only need to reflect and write! Thank you for prayerfully considering joining our effort to strengthen our community! Contact Fr. Tripp, Linda Reid or Linda Sammons to volunteer or for more information.

Christian Formation Opportunities for Adults

Sunday Mornings, 10:10 am Rector's Forum
"Signs of Life""
The Christian faith is a tremendous inheritance from two thousand years faithful Christians living out their experience of God. Our faith is enriched by sacred images and symbols, incense, candles, rosary beads, water and oils, gestures and acts of piety, sacred music, customs and ceremonies. These are the signs of life God has given to us. We will discuss the biblical roots and meaning behind all that we do in our worship and how all those things we do - even the sacraments themselves - fit into the Christian journey. We'll explore these traditions and signs as we move through the season of Epiphany, a celebration of God with us.

Thursdays, 12:30 pm Mid-Day Bible Study
"Romans"
Our mid-week Bible study resumes on January 8 as we dive into St. Paul's letter to the Romans. In his letter, St Paul opens vistas to the gospel, shining a light on what we can experience by embracing and living in the Good News of Christ. He profoundly shares with us an understanding of the impact of Jesus Christ on our lives and the world.
Our discussion each Thursday are lively and engaging. The fellowship is delightful. And the coffee is warm and the baked treats are tasty... so why not join us as we resume our weekly Bible study on January 8?
