The Feast of the Epiphany
This Sunday, January 4
We resume our regular schedule this coming Sunday (7:45, 9:00, 11:15) and Sunday school resumes as well at 10:10 am.
The Feast of the Epiphany (which actually falls on the 12th day of Christmas, 1/6) is transferred to previous Sunday.  So we will hear again the story of the wisemen, those three kings who traversed afar bringing their gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh.  Join us as we continue our celebration of the new born king!
This Sunday is also "Grab A Poinsettia Day" ... also known as taking down the wreaths and cleaning up the church after Christmas.  We begin right after Mass.  So we would love to have anyone who is able to help for 15-20 minutes join the fun at 12:30 this Sunday afternoon.
** Don't forget Sunday school resumes January 4 **
Annual Parish Meeting
Sunday, January 11at 5:00 pm
Join us on Sunday, January 11 at 5pm for a parish dinner and our annual meeting.  Smoked boston pork butt will be the main dish - a preview of the Knights of Columba's "Butts for the Bowl" event.  At the annual meeting we will hear how the Good News has been proclaimed in all of our parish ministries and guilds and in our common life together as a parish community.
     VESTRY ELECTIONS
During the annual meeting, we  will also have the opportunity to elect four members to the parish vestry.  If you would like to nominate yourself or some one else to stand for election, contact Todd Reid or Lorraine Ferguson, or speak with Father Tripp.  To be eligible to serve on vestry you must be an adult member of the parish, have made and maintained a financial commitment, and able to attend the monthly vestry meeting.  Vestry meets on the 3rd Monday of each month and goes on retreat the last weekend in January of each year.

Outreach Ministry News
Don't forget our food pantry as we move into the new year.  Colder months bring a higher demand on the resources of the pantries at The Place in Forsyth and at Emmaus House in Atlanta.  Many of their shelves are empty and need our help.  You can bring your canned good and dry good donations to the church at anytime.  Food is delivered following the 3rd Sunday of the month.
Backpacks of Love program continues as well.  This program provides food for families who don't have enough to get through the weekend and also when school is out for a holiday break.  You can sponsor a backpack once once or twice a month, depending on how often you'd like to participate.  For information about how to become a Backpacks of Love sponsor, stop by the welcome table and pick up a flyer or contact Kathleen Kraynick (click here).

Christian Formation Opportunities for Adults

Sunday Mornings, 10:10 am
 Rector's Forum
"Signs of Life""
The Christian faith is a tremendous inheritance from two thousand years faithful Christians living out their experience of God. Our faith is enriched by sacred images and symbols, incense, candles, rosary beads, water and oils, gestures and acts of piety, sacred music, customs and ceremonies.  These are the signs of life God has given to us.  We will discuss the biblical roots and meaning behind all that we do in our worship and how all those things we do - even the sacraments themselves - fit into the Christian journey.  We'll explore these traditions and signs as we move through the season of Epiphany, a celebration of God with us.

Thursdays, 12:30 pm
Mid-Day Bible Study
"Romans"

Our mid-week Bible study resumes on January 8 as we dive into St. Paul's letter to the Romans.  In his letter, St Paul opens vistas to the gospel, shining a light on what we can experience by embracing and living in the Good News of Christ. He profoundly shares with us an understanding of the impact of Jesus Christ on our lives and the world.

Our discussion each Thursday are lively and engaging.  The fellowship is delightful.  And the coffee is warm and the baked treats are tasty... so why not join us as we resume our weekly Bible study on January 8?
