Donations for Christmas Music & Flowers
Help make our Christmas Masses glorious celebrations as we greet again the new born King.  Donate towards the brass quintet for Christmas Eve Masses in memory or thanksgiving of a loved one.  Or, donate towards the poinsettias that will decorate the church during Christmastide.  You can complete the form in the bulletin on Sunday and earmark your check "Christmas music" or "Christmas flowers"  or you can email Daniel directly.
Advent Begins This Sunday
"Therefore, keep awake-- for you do not know when the master of the house will come, in the evening, or at midnight, or at cockcrow, or at dawn, or else he may find you asleep when he comes suddenly. And what I say to you I say to all: Keep awake."
Advent at St. Columba's always begins with Daniel playing the Bach prelude, Sleepers Awake. It's one of the great traditions of ours that announces to us all: "Welcome to Advent!" Wake up is the cry of Advent. Throughout Advent, the Prophets will be calling us to wake up to the Lord and to the fullness of life that He offers each day. All we need to do is awaken our hearts, our minds, our lives, our families to the power of God's love, mercy and peace. This is the message of Advent. Join us this Sunday as the first candle of Advent is lighted; sing the familiar joyous carols of preparation. Awaken your heart, and your life, to the power of God. Open wide your heart to the Lord. Allow yourself to let go of the hurt, pain and disappointments of life that often separate us from others, and especially from the Lord. All we need to do is open our heart just a little to the Lord - what comes next is the outpouring of God's grace, love, strength and peace.
