Sunday School Open House
10:10-11am September 7 (for Age 3 through 5th grade)
As we begin a new year of Sunday school, parents of children age 3 through 5th grade are encouraged to go to the class for the opening session. The teachers are looking forward to sharing with you a bit about the year, how the atrium model works in the Catechesis program, and what the children will be doing as they go through the year. It's a phenomenal program that teaches about our sacramental tradition and the Biblical story.

Sunday School Teacher Commissioning
This Sunday September 7 @ 9:00 am
All Sunday school teachers should plan to attend the 9am Mass this Sunday for the Commissioning of Teachers. It's an exciting day as we kick-off another great year of Sunday school and give thanks to God for the time and talent our teachers give each Sunday morning. A special thanks to Kristen Weems, coordinator of the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd program, and Easton Davis and Kelly Jones, coordinators for the middle and high school program.

Parent Meeting & Dinner
Parents of Teenagers in 6th-12th Grades
Sunday, September 14 @ 5pm
EYC will begin meeting at their usual times on Rally Sunday (9/7), and on Sunday, September 14 all parents with youth in 6th through 12 grade are invited to a dinner hosted by the EYC leaders and Knights of Columba (younger siblings are welcome to come to the dinner as well).
During dinner, parents will have the opportunity to meet all the EYC volunteers and our youth director, Easton Davis, will go over the goals, schedule, and plans for this coming year. We will also have some special announcements about the mission trip and St. Paddy's Day Gala event. This meeting will also present information about the Sunday school and Confirmation programs.
We need an accurate headcount for this dinner, so please sign up right away. You can sign up online (click here) - sign up deadline is Rally Sunday September 7. If you are unable to attend or if you have any questions, please touch base with Easton (email link).

If you haven't already please RSVP via the sign-up genius link ( click here). We are looking for more acolytes - so now is a great time to get involved and serve! Flower Guild Members Needed |
Our flower guild would love to add you to one of the 4 teams - no experience is necessary and all women and men of the parish are warmly welcome! Teams prepare the flowers at the Altar and welcome table each week. Each team works in groups of 2-4, and serves one Sunday a month, so the time commitment is only about 2 hours a month. If you've never arranged flowers before, do not fear -- training is provided. If you have questions about the Guild or if you'd like to join please contact Katherine Schwimmer or Melissa Bernardino ( email link) or call the parish office.

F.E.A.S.T. Groups Now Forming
Kick-Off Social - Saturday, September 20 @ 6:30pm
New FEAST Groups are being formed for fall and winter. You can select a group that meets in parishioners homes or a group that meets in a local restaurant. We also have groups for those who have young children. FEAST is an acronym that stands for Friends Eating and Sharing Together, and is a great way to connect with fellow parishioners and make new friends.
Groups are 8-10 people and meet monthly to share a meal together. For the home groups, usually the host prepares the entrée and others bring a side dish or appetizer - the great part of FEAST group dinners is no one has to cook the whole meal! Restaurant groups meet at local restaurants and are a great way to try out new hot spots with a group of friends.
A sign up sheet is at the Welcome Table or you can email Sandra Sirmon to sign up online, to ask any questions, or to get more information ( click here).

Outreach Ministry News
We had a significant drop in food collected for the month of August, with only 148 pounds being delivered to The Place of Forsyth County. Hopefully everybody has seen at least highlights from the Hunger In America 2014 study (www.feedingamerica.org). Various agencies, including the two St. Columba's supports, serve 46.5M people in the U.S., 1 out of every 7 people! This includes 12M children and 7M seniors. The demographics are wide-ranging and include many who are simply struggling to get by on a monthly basis - 93% live in a permanent residence, 41% have at least one household member with post-HS education, and 20% of households include at least one military veteran. Their struggles, however, force them to make choices - 69% had to choose between food and utilities and 66% have had to choose between food and medical care. There is a great need both in the local Forsyth County and the greater Atlanta areas. Please do what you can to help those in need. We will be providing September's donations to The Place of Forsyth County, collecting food each week leading up to the 3rd Sunday of the month (September 21st - Breakfast Sunday) which is the official collection day for the month. Biggest needs are canned soups and vegetables, peanut butter, and anything that can be stored for a long period of time. Donations can be placed in the tubs located next to the welcome table in the narthex. Thanks in advance for your help!
