This Sunday we celebrate the feast of the Holy Trinity. Christians are Trinitarian. We believe in one God in Three Persons, and that common belief shapes how we pray. Our Trinitarian language reflects how God has revealed God's self to us and the primary ways we experience God as the one God who has created us, redeemed us and sustains us.
Two great hymns are associated with Trinity Sunday in the Episcopal Church, "Holy, holy, holy!" and "Holy God we praise thy name." Both will be sung at our Solemn Mass this Sunday and each beautifully expresses the fullness of God: Holy, holy, holy! Lord God Almighty! Early in the morning our song shall rise to Thee; Holy, holy, holy, merciful and mighty! God in three Persons, blessèd Trinity.
