Spring Forward This Weekend
Set Your Clock Ahead Saturday Night (March 9)
This weekend we enter Daylight Savings Time, which means you need to set your clocks ahead one-hour as you go to bed Saturday night. Daylight savings time was introduced during WWI as a means of conserving coal. Following the war, it dropped out of useage. It was brought back for short periods of time during the years following the first world war and again during WWII. Afterwards it dropped out of use again until the energy crisis in 1970. In 2007, DST was extended so that it now begins on the 2nd Sunday in March.

Rose Sunday
Laetare - The Fourth Sunday in Lent
The 4th Sunday in Lent is a bit unique. Like its sister date, Gaudete which is the 3rd Sunday in Advent, Laetare Sunday marks the mid-point of our journey. We are half-way through Lent and so we have a break in our Lenten penitence. The name "Laetare" comes from the Introit that was traditionally sung by the choir at the beginning of Mass on the 4th Sunday in Lent: Rejoice, O Jerusalem: and come together all you that love her: rejoice with joy, you that have been in sorrow: that you may exult, and be filled from the breasts of your consolation. As we pause at this mid-way point, we relax our Lenten traditions slightly. Flowers return to the Altar, rose vestments are used instead of violet, our lessons focus on the joy we have in God's love, and in many areas mothers are honored with special traditions and thanksgiving. Rose vestments symbolize for us light of God's love and joy. In modern times the hymn, "Now quit your care,"written by the English priest Percy Dearmer, reminds us that Easter is near: "Lent calls to prayer, to trust, and dedication, and brings new music nigh: reply, reply, reply with love to Love Most High."
Adult Lenten Program - Rector's Forum
As the waters of the flood receded and the Ark was opened, God set the rainbow in the cloud and established a covenant with humanity. Our relationship with God has forever since been shaped by covenant. Our Eucharistic prayer reminds us, again and again God called us into covenant and through the prophets taught us to hope for salvation. Simply put covenant is a statement of what it means to follow Christ, beginning with the waters of our baptism. Over the next several weeks, we will explore the covenants of our faith and how they lead us into a relationship with God that gives us hope and grace.
Sunday mornings, 10:10-11:00 am through Palm Sunday (3/24)
