St. Patrick's Day Parish Dinner
|
Sunday, March 17 - 5:30 to 7:30pm
Everybody is Irish on St. Patrick's Day! And in that spirit, our very own youth group is throwing a traditional Irish dinner for the entire parish. There will be corned beef, cabbage, Irish soda bread, and potatoes - Linda and Todd Reid's famous recipe - hotdogs and other kid friendly food too. Desserts and Irish beverages will be served by the adult leprechauns too.
As a special treat, the talent of our parish will be featured during a special "Guitaritas" - or offering of music by some incredible musicians and voices from our youth group and youth leaders. It will be a night not to be missed. All proceeds will help defray the costs for the youth mission trip this summer. Space is limited and the cost will be $15 for adults, $7 for children under 12. Fabulous food, a great celebration, Irish cheer, phenomenal entertainment... make your reservation today. Click Here to make your reservation.

Experiencing the Mystery of God
Prayer, Worship, Silence, &Song
Wednesday Evenings at 6:30 pm
This year our Wednesday program will take on a slightly different style. Instead of a class on spirituality or faith which has been the centerpiece of our Wednesday nights in previous years, we will instead have the opportunity to experience different ways of praying. Stations of the Cross will be a regular component of each Wednesday, but each week it will have another liturgy that will allow us to experience other types of prayer and devotion from the rich liturgical heritage of our Church.

Backpacks of Love - New Outreach Ministry
|
St. Columba's is starting participation in an additional food outreach program, Backpacks of Love, which serves children and their families who are either homeless or in severe need - whose only meals are often the free or reduced cost breakfast and lunch they receive at school. In Forsyth county alone, this equates to 8,100 students, a 52% increase in the number of children in the free/reduced cost school lunch program since 2008! Backpacks of Love addresses these food insecurity issues by supplying food for the child and their family to have over the weekend through a backpack the child takes home from school. Backpack 'sponsors' shop for the food from a prepared list. Sponsors pick up empty backpacks from church on Saturday night or Sunday morning and then drop off filled backpacks back at church within the following 10 days. Please contact Ron & Kathleen Kraynick at (770) 888-5145 or via email more information or to sign up to participate as a backpack sponsor. There is also a sign-up sheet in the narthex. Thanks very much for your participation! |
Saturday, March 23
Our next parish workday will take place just before Palm Sunday. We'll spruce up the grounds for Easter and plant spring annuals. In addition, we will be working inside doing a spring cleaning for our Easter Masses. All are welcome. Join us for an hour or a morning as we prepare with joy for the Paschal Feast!
