Outreach Ministry
Community Food Pantry
A great start to the year, St. Columba's!  We collected 224 pounds of food in the January food drive, which was delivered to Emmaus House.  Thank you so much for your support.  February's donations will be delivered to The Place in Forsyth.  Food can be dropped off anytime, and the 3rd Sunday of the month is the official collection day.  Urgent needs are Tuna helper and Parmalat/Borden's or Hershey's boxed milk.  Other needs are caned soups and vegetables and anything that can be stored for a long period.  The collection bin is located by the Welcome Table.  Thank you for your continued support to those in need in our community!

Superbowl "Smoked Pork Butts"
Our very own Knights of Columba will be parked on the 50yard line of the parish parking lot preparing Boston Pork Butts for your Superbowl festivities.  The cost is only $35 each and proceeds benefit the outreach ministries of the parish.  Order deadline is tomorrow (Thursday, January 31) and you can still place your order online by clicking the link below. Please note that the pick up date has been changed to SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 3 after church.

Buildings & Grounds Committee To Meet
Interested in playing in the dirt?  If so, plan to attend our next Buildings and Grounds committee meeting on Monday, February 14 at 6:30pm in the Narthex.  All are welcome!  At this meeting we will discuss landscaping projects for the Spring.  We hope to build upon last year's project of laying sod and improving the landscaping around the church and planting beds.  If you have any questions, please contact Jim Edwards, Jim Lambert, or Gordon Ralph.

Choir to Sing At Cathedral of St. Philip
The St. Columba's Choir has been invited to sing Evensong at the Cathedral of St. Philip on Sunday, February 24 at 4:00pm.  Evensong, which is made up of readings, prayers, and magnificent music, is a beautiful service, especially in the setting of the Cathedral.  This invitation is a rare opportunity and a great honor for our choir and parish; and we hope you will join us at the Cathedral.  An organ recital by Sam Polk of Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Athens, GA will preceede Evensong at 3:15pm.

Choir Singers Needed
The St. Columba choir is searching for singers of all voice parts, especially tenors, and we invite you to sing with us.  You don't need a background in music or a soloist's voice, just the ability to sing in tune and attend rehearsals (Thursdays, 7-8:45pm).  Prospective singers are welcome to attend one or more rehearsals before deciding.  For more information contact Daniel Hahn (via email or 770-888-4464x8003)

Holy Oldies Mardi Gras Party
Saturday, February 9, 7:00-9:00pm
If you are among the fortunate to be 55 or older or have a spouse who is, you are cordially invited to help us celebrate Mardi Gras on February 9 at Aberdeen Clubhouse.  We also celebrate the birthdays of those who fall in December, January, or February.  The evening is a time of food, fellowship, music, and fun. The cost is only $5 to help cover the supply cost, and you bring a heavy appetizer to share and a beverage of your choice.  We look forward to seeing you there!

F.E.A.S.T. Groups Forming
Saturday, March 9 - 6:30pm
Looking to join a small group where you can develop close friendship as you laugh, learn, and grow in your faith?  FEAST Groups are the way!  Sign ups begin in February and there will be a kick-off social on Saturday, March 9 at 6:30pm at the church to get acquainted with your group.  Groups meet about once a month from March until August.  The groups meet 4 to 5 times and are made up of 8-10 people (couples and singles).  You can choose to belong to a home group, where everyone takes a turn being the host and providing the main dish.  The host coordinates with the others in the group to bring the rest of the meal so no one has to prepare a complete meal.  The other option instead of a home group is the Restaurant Group.  Here the 'host' selects a restaurant and the group meets there instead of at the hosts home.  Groups are shuffled twice each year.  This session of FEAST groups begins in March and the next will begin in August.  You can sign up on Sundays at the Welcome table or contact Linda Williams (via email).
Let There Be Light - Lunch
Monday, February 25
A wonderful informative lunch is happening on Monday, February 25 at 11:30 am at St. Columba's!  Our verger, Jerry Adams, and our parish deacons, Bob & Diane Millott, will be our program for Let There Be Light's monthly meeting.  This will be a great, informal way of getting to know them and their ministries in our church better.  Let There Be Light group is made up of adults coming together once a month on the 4th Monday at 11:30 for lunch, fellowship, fun, information and brainstorming ideas for outreach.  All are welcome and a sign up sheet is at the Welcome Table to help us plan accurate numbers.  If you find you are available to attend at the last minute, simply email Judy Moorman (email link) or just come - there will always be plenty to share!
