Farewell & Godspeed to the Costins
|
Reception This Sunday, January 20
Deacon Dick Costin and his wife Sandra will be returning to Florida later this month where they will assist in the development of Canterbury Retreat and Conference Center. This will be an exciting ministry for them as they return to their roots and a parish they helped launch before coming to St. Columba's, but it will be a bittersweet time for us as they leave our community and take up this new ministry.
We will have the opportunity to wish this well and send them off with our love and prayers on Sunday, January 20 at 10:10 am. Please join us this weekend as we thank them for their ministry among us and hear about their plans at Canterbury and at the Church of the Incarnation which meets at Canterbury.

| Superbowl "Smoked Pork Butts" |
Our very own Knights of Columba will be parked on the 50yard line of the parish parking lot preparing Boston Pork Butts for your Superbowl festivities. The cost is only $35 each and proceeds benefit the outreach ministries of the parish. Orders can be placed anytime during January. The deadline is January 30th. You can order at church on Sunday or place your order online and pay with a credit card (via PayPal). This will be a delicious way to cheer on your favorite team at the Superbowl and help raise money for the wonderful outreach ministries of the parish.

The St. Columba choir is searching for singers of all voice parts, especially tenors, and we invite you to sing with us. You don't need a background in music or a soloist's voice, just the ability to sing in tune and attend rehearsals (Thursdays, 7-8:45pm). Food Pantry Donations Needed

December was another incredible month for Outreach Ministry - we had a record 372 pounds of food donated and was delivered to The Place in Forsyth County. During 2012, we collected and donated over 2,529 pounds of food that made a tremendous impact in our community. Thank you to everyone who donated food this past year!
We collect food every week leading up to the 3rd Sunday of the month which is the official collection day. Biggest needs are canned soups and vegetables, pasta and sauce, and anything that can be stored for long periods of time. Food donations rotate in their delivery between The Place in Forsyth County and Emmaus House in Atlanta. Place your donations in the large bin by the welcome table in the Narthex and let's work together to make 2013 even more successful than 2012!

Holy Oldies Mardi Gras Party

Saturday, February 9, 7:00-9:00pm
If you are among the fortunate to be 55 or older or have a spouse who is, you are cordially invited to help us celebrate Mardi Gras on February 9 at Aberdeen Clubhouse. We also celebrate the birthdays of those who fall in December, January, or February. The evening is a time of food, fellowship, music, and fun. The cost is only $5 to help cover the supply cost, and you bring a heavy appetizer to share and a beverage of your choice. We look forward to seeing you there!
