tidings-of-great-joy
Merry Christmas from St. Columba's!
Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ,

Good tidings of great joy for all people. What a glorious message for all of us this year. The shepherds were the first to hear, then some pilgrims and passersby heard the Good News born so quietly that night. That same night three kings saw the star and set out to Bethlehem knowing in their hearts they would find a great thing that would change their world forever. The love this holy child brought was too good of a thing to let go unknown or untold. So, all of these pilgrims went from that stable carrying a bit of that holy light they had found which changed them forever. They dared to risk what this change might mean for each of them personally because they knew the world desperately needed the hope this child brought into the world. Their journey brought a change into the world that gave light and hope to those who were lost, trapped, lonely, imprisoned, forgotten, hungry, and poor ... to every single person in every walk of life. The message carried from the manger that holy night brought the light of a new day and gave them cause to laugh and love like they had not been able to do for so long.  This December especially, can you imagine a message we need to hear more?

You and I are invited once again to "go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, and the Babe lying in a manger." It can be a simple reminder of a story we have heard many times in years past. Or...it can be a holy pilgrimage for us this year that changes our hearts, lifts our spirits, renews our hope in the midst of a time of fear or sadness.   We all live in complicated times and the message of good news that comes in the Holy Child of Bethlehem can change our lives and our world that has become so wrapped in fear. We can be changed this Christmas night and carry with us courage and a message of love that has the power to renew the face of the earth, a message that can truly bring peace on earth and good will to all people everywhere.

Please join us this Christmas to hear again the message of love, hope, and joy.  The link below will take you to our Christmas Mass schedule.  Take time out of your holidays to make them Holy Days and come home so your heart can be warmed and your life can become a herald of good tidings of great joy!

May the joy of the birth of the Holy Child of God bring you every good wish and peace this year, and may the Light of God shine upon you and renew your spirit in love leading you into a brighter, merrier New Year.

Peace and Christmas Blessing,
