A Special Weekend at St. Columba's
|
Sunday, December 2
We welcome this Sunday as our guest preacher and speaker at the Adult Sunday School Forum, The Rev'd Claiborne Jones, director of Emmaus House (our Diocesan mission downtown). A long-time priest of our diocese, Mtr. Jones has served a number of parishes around the diocese and while the rector of Church of the Epiphany in Decatur, she was called to join the Bishop's staff as director and chaplain of Emmaus House. We currently support two very important ministries of Emmaus House: their community food pantry and their annual Christmas program for children. Emmaus House serves a community in Atlanta who are in the greatest need and it has been a joy and pleasure to grow a friendship with Emmaus House. Please join us for a very special Sunday this weekend as we begin the Advent season with a focus on serving others in love and faith!

Urgent: Angel Tree Outreach Needs You!
We have had a good response to our Angel Tree Christmas Outreach ministry this year. However, we still have about 20 ornaments left on the three. That's 20 children who still need your help this Christmas. Please help us continue our strong support of children in need during the Christmas season by taking one or two of the remaining ornaments off the tree this weekend. This weekend is the last chance to help - so if you can't be here this Sunday, take a moment to stop by the church between now and Monday afternoon to help us clear all the ornaments off the Angel Tree and brighten the Christmas season for children who need you. The gift you bring truly becomes a showing of the generous abundance of God's love. All gifts should be returned by noon on Sunday, December 9.

Christmas Cookies for the Church of the Common Ground
|
Spreading God's Love One Cookie At A Time
We will deliver about 55 dozen homemade cookies to the Church of the Common Ground on Sunday, December 16. So, when you make your homemade cookies, why not
plan to bake an extra dozen or so? Bring your cookies to St. Columba's on either December 2, December 9 or December 16 (before 10am on 12/16) in ziploc freezer bag.
At 10am on December 16, the middle and high school Sunday School classes will divide the cookies into 80 individual bags. Our deacons will leave after Sunday school to deliver the cookies to the Church of the Common Ground downtown. If you would like to help deliver the cookies, a few spaces are available and the experience of visiting the Church of the Common Ground will be a true joy.
Click Here to send an email to Deacon Diane Millott to let her know how many cookies you plan to bake and also if you'd like to visit the Church of the Common Ground on December 16.
