Daily Lore and Legend
September 4 At sunrise on this day, the Changing Woman Ceremony is held annually by the Native American tribe of the Apache in Arizona. The rite, which lasts for four consecutive days, marks the coming of age of a pubescent girl, who ritually transforms into the spirit-goddess known as Changing Woman and blesses all who are in attendance.

Shop Chat - fairy worlds
Chatting to a lady in one of my new age business Facebook groups about elementals realms I learned about a group responsible for "Fairy and Human Relations" according to their website:
The Fairy & Human Relations Congress is an annual event held in the Methow Valley in Washington State. The Congress is dedicated to Promoting Communication and Co-Creation with Nature Spirits, Devas and the Faery Realms. Initially started in the early 1950's in England with Daphne Charters, the first Congress in the US was held at Skalitude in the Pacific Northwest in 2001. It has been an annual event ever since.
According to one of their testimonials
The Fairy Congress is not a New Age forum event. It's about Doing, Joining, Sharing, looking to the future. In a collapsing world economy, Fairy Congress gives us an idea of another way of living, another way of thinking. Some of it comes from ancestral wisdom, some from new human visions of departing from the greed of commercial modernism. Fairy Congress is an Idealist event, a Visionary event, and an event buoyant with hope and friendship.
how cool is that?
As children my grandmother would take us down the back of her yard to a giant weeping willow where we would leave little lollies for the fairies - in return they ensured a happy holiday for us and plenty of ripe passionfruit we would gorge ourselves on.

In the News - Inaugural Earth and Fairy festival in Adams brings ancient traditions to modern world (US)
. . . .It was the morning of Mr. Wilson's wedding - an event that coincided with the inaugural Fairy and Earth festival at the Kripalu Yoga and Wellness Center . . . .
Mr. Wilson helped organize the festival with his bride-to-be, Denessa M. Statler.
The Sandy Creek couple, who were to be married at 3 p.m. in a "handfasting" ceremony performed by Pagan chaplain Mary K. Hudson, wanted to bring elements of their culture and community to the north country and found a willing partner in the Yoga Center, which has been operating in the area for more than 40 years.
"We've always admired the medieval and Renaissance ideas and, being a part of the Pagan community, there's nothing in this area for the north country. Why not put one on?" Mr. Wilson said.
. . . . . While the festival incorporated philosophies from ancient religions such as Paganism, Druidry and Wicca, participants drew connections between their rituals and the hallmarks of modern life.
For instance, the handfasting tradition, in which a couple's hands are tied together with a ceremonial knot during the union, has been incorporated in many modern weddings, including that of Prince William to Kate Middleton, . . .
And a harvest ceremony performed by the Chalice Circle Covenant of Unitarian Universalist Pagans, or CUUPs, would draw participants closer to the earth and the food it yields, . .
The major difference, according to Mr. Yerdon, is the spiritual element

In the News - Gothic skull takes the cake (NZ)
Michelle Tubby had a skull sitting in her Manly home freezer for three weeks.
This one was made of eight layers of red velvet cake, "cemented" together with chocolate buttercream and covered in chocolate ganache and fondant.
It was kept in the freezer as she worked on it.
The unusual cake was a gift for Kiwi rock metal band Devilskin while they were in Auckland filming a live show for DVD last weekend.
. . . . . Michelle wants to gain more of a reputation for her Victorian gothic baking and says her intention is to go global.
"There aren't too many people wanting skull cakes in the Hibiscus Coast," she said. "I'm getting out and doing as many crazy things as I can."

Magick for the Week : "Fairy Spell"
Spring is the time when fairies return from their winter rest, carefree and full of mischief and delight. On the night before Beltane, in times past, folks would place rowan branches at their windows and doors for protection. If you do not wish the fairies to visit, do the same!
However it is said that fairies can be of great help with spells once you get them to trust you. Fairies are pure energy and are into health and nature. So here is a spell to help you win their trust and perhaps their assistance.
In a woodland clearing, spread a clean green cloth. On it place small cakes and flowers, especially primroses, in a circle. Imagine the magic around you and say:
O Fairy Queen, Upon your white steed, Within me plant A magic seed. From you may spring Many new beginnings. Great Queen, Accept these offerings.
Leave the items and walk around the altar three times, then slowly walk the path back to your home.
Listen for the sound of laughter and bells and know you are blessed. This is also a perfect time for night or pre-dawn rituals to draw on fairy power to promote fertility in body and mind.
contributed by Nica to our magazine in 2008, with many thanks to Nancy Bennett These spells are selected to inform and inspire, not necessarily to be followed exactly, I suggest using your magickal intuition to adapt these to your purposes, make any substitutes you feel fitting, and infuse the rituals with your own personal power.

Your Say - The Personal Touch
Hi Margaret, Yes, I would love to be part of the new Inner Circle group. It all sounds very exciting, and I'm looking forward to learning more. On a different note; it amazes me sometimes how people from great distances away can be thinking the same thing without having actually spoken that thought to one another. I'm refering to your "task for the week" in {last weeks} Magical Days email. After receiving your card for my birthday I thought how lovely it was to receive something in the mail that you can hold in your hand. Modern technology is good but sometimes being able to physically hold something makes it just that more special. a lovely day L
Hi Margaret, It is interesting that so many of 'us' love to receive your parcels. Something 'in the post'. Then today you have suggested writing a letter - by hand - to someone you admire. I have got back into the habit a while back of writing letters again and I also lovingly use my Dad's fountain pen. I take the time to put my 'S' wax seal on the envelope, or stamp it with a beautiful fairy rubber/ink pad stamp....I do all sorts of things to decorate the envelope. The ladies at the post office often admire my handiwork -- so do the recipients. My son types all of his correspondence on a 1940s typewriter. It just looks fabulous and for some reason gives the letter a very personal touch. Australia Post must love us....Peace S
