new gemstone pendants only $9
A simple stone with a hole through it to wear around your neck must be one of the earliest forms of amulet - still effective today. These pendants are a great way to connect with the energies of the different crystals and / or the different zodiac sign associations - which stone is for your sign?

Quote of the Week
"Perhaps the day will come where the validity of one's spirituality will be judged not by the correctness of one's theology but by the authenticity of one's spiritual life. When that day comes, an authentically spiritual Buddhist and an authentically spiritual Christian may find that they have more in common with each other than they do with those in their respective religions who have failed to develop their spirituality."

Daily Lore and Legend
August 4 Each year on this date, it was believed that the waters of Scotland's Loch-mo-Naire became charged with miraculous magickal powers to heal all who drank it or bathed in it. For many years it was a custom for those who visited Loch-mo-Naire to toss in a coin of silver as an offering to the benevolent spirits that dwelled within the lake.

In the News - Thousands of women, accused of sorcery, tortured and executed in Indian witch hunts (India)
If it began like the others, the first sign that Saraswati Devi would be murdered was an accusation delivered to a shaman. Perhaps she had offended someone. Perhaps someone had fallen sick and had wondered why. Perhaps a community well had suddenly dried and someone needed blaming. Perhaps they chose her because Devi was lower caste, because she was a woman, and because they'd probably get away with it.
The killers came for her on Saturday. Two of her sons tried to save her, but couldn't and were beaten. Their punishment wouldn't match Devi's. Before the 14 villagers inflicted injuries so severe they would claim her life, they "forced her to consume human excreta," police told the Hindustan Times.
Though shocking by nearly any standard, the murder was not unique. It was not even uncommon in pockets of rural India.
In places where superstition and vigilantism overlap and small rumors can turn deadly, nearly 2,100 people accused of witchcraft have been killed between 2000 and 2012, . . . . .

In the News - Is there a Black Country Triangle? West Midlands Police receive scores of 999 calls in three years reporting sightings of witches, zombies and ghosts (UK)
. . . . .
West Midlands Police have received 71 reports of witches ghosts and zombies over a three year period - however the Black Country is officially werewolf-free.
Between 2011 and 2013, the force was obliged to investigate reports of paranormal activity in what has now been dubbed The Black Country Triangle.
According to Nick Duffy of the West Midlands' Ghost Club, much of this upsurge is probably due to poor quality American television shows dealing with the paranormal. . . . .
'I am very surprised by the number of reports of witchcraft. I guess that is down to the popularity of TV shows such as Charmed.

The term encompasses a wide range of traditions generally organized around seasonal festivals, and can include ritual magic, a belief in both female and male deities, and the formation of covens led by priestesses and priests. Wiccan is both an adjective and a noun. Uppercase in all uses.

Your Say - Southern Hemisphere walls
Merry Met Margaret, Just wondering if you'll be offering any 2015 calendars based in the southern hemisphere? The current lot on offer are beautiful, but I'd rather (and I think many others would too) prefer a calendar that suits our part of the world. Blessed be, L
HI L I understand, which is why I emphasise that all these ones are US based - we normally have a number of southern hemisphere moon/gratitude diaries (e.g. see this weeks Pop Up products) but I don't think I've seen a coloured picture wall calendar with Southern Hemisphere magickal dates - will keep my eye out though. Cheers, M
