Shop Chat

Greetings Friends

Its been an intense week here in Uncle Festers land - after my big rant  here last week, that I also showed on our facebook page, we got a lot of love and validation back in return (Thanks everyone)

What's even more amazing is the lady ended up buying the bag from us, as she is a small business owner too.

So got any questions ? don't be afraid to ask ! (LOL)

Got principles ? Don't be afraid to air them. It's all part of being authentic to yourself and what you do.!

The other thing this past week is we launched part one of our new Inner Circle program - an ambitious project which will feature special access to all sorts of information and e-courses (starting August 1 with an expanded and more interactive version of the wicca course) plus ongoing product discounts and other special member benefits. A mail out with an invitation to join has just gone out to those that automatically qualify based on the amount of purchases and support over the past 12 months.

Our "Friends of the Family" supporters will be targeted next week with a special discounted offer to join in the fun. While new comers will also be allowed to join in for a small subscription fee.  More details soon

It's all good,

Cheers,

Margaret

In the News - The Met Costume Institute Is Going Goth This Fall (US)

The Metropolitan Museum of Art revealed that their next fall spectacle (the first in seven years!) will be called "Death Becomes Her: A Century of Mourning Attire."

From October 21 through February 1, the exhibition will feature around 30 "mourning ensembles" from the 19th and early 20th centuries that will "reveal the impact of high-fashion standards on the sartorial dictates of bereavement rituals as they evolved over a century," according to The Met's press release. Judging by the images, we're expecting to see tons of high-fashion veils and breathtaking, sculptured, Victorian-era gowns, which were the original inspiration behind most modern goth looks today. . ..

In the News - Goth it right? This style won't die (India)

. . . . .Gothic-inspired clothes ranging from Victorian gowns to studded corsets, the deep blues, reds and purples give you a vast variety to choose from. Though the clothing may seem morbid, dark or dull at the first look, it can be taken to an all new level if done right.

Remember Alexander McQueen's signature nineteen century-inspired Victorian gothic clothing that took international runways by storm? His version of the Gothic bride from the Victorian era is one design that's difficult to forget. French designer Jean Paul Gaultier extensively uses gothic and Victorian era-inspired corsets in his creations. In another part of the world, Japanese visual kei musician Mana Sama's clothing label, Moi-même-Moitié, has greatly universalised Japan's Gothic Lolita fashion movement, which began in the late 1990s in Harajuku.

Indian cinema too has seen actors in Gothic-inspired attire and make up - smoky eyes, red lipstick and pale skin. "Goth cult is yet to make a mark in India but in a crowd of 100 you might find 2 or 3 people dressing that way . . . .. . .

Exercise of the Week - change your focus

CHANGE YOUR FOCUS/CHANGE YOUR MOOD. Are you focusing on one event that is making you sad whilst ignoring the hundreds of other events that have made you happy?

Draw a tiny dot on a piece of paper, label it your "sad" event. Draw a huge circle next to it, write as many wonderful events you have experienced inside it. Notice how this lifts your mood.

This simple and insightful exercise was spied on Anni's Healing Garden the facebook page of one of our Inner Circle Members Anni - check her out particularly if you are around Sydney's Northern Beach area.
