Greetings!
Greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! The spring and summer has been a busy time for our teams. I recently had the opportunity to visit the UCE Uganda team. When I have the opportunity to go and do one of my favorite things in the world...go on UCE outreaches, I am always amazed by the work the Lord is doing through our teams! During the trip, the Gospel was preached to 1,950 young people, and of these 1,335 (68%) committed their lives to the Lord and to abstain from sex until marriage. 2 new UCE Clubs were also formed. Looking at those numbers, I can see the need and desire for the UCE message is great. The youth are yearning for this message!

Also this June, God opened the door for UCE in Nigeria. I had the privilege of representing UCE and speaking to 1,500 people at the International Family and Pro-Life Conference in Abuja, Nigeria. EWTN filmed interviews with Drs. Ken and Kim about UCE for three different television shows/documentaries including, "Dana and Friends." At the sponsorship of the Salesians of Don Bosco, UCE was also asked to return to Nigeria August 30th to train 160 of their youth leaders. The youth leaders will go into schools and give the message of chastity. Even with all these wonderful opportunities to share the UCE message, I was most deeply touched by the faith and commitment of the Nigerian people. After I gave my talk, many youth, priests, nuns, and lay people came up to me. What struck me, was they didn't ask me, 'Can you bring UCE to my region, or how can UCE help my fellow youth?' Instead, every single one of them asked me, 'How can I share this message with the people in my community?' We gave out as many UCE Manuals as we could, but we are praying that God will give us more opportunities and resources to equip those who desperately want to share this message with their countrymen.

Equipping local populations to teach the chastity message is at the heart of UCE. We don't bring a western message, telling people that we know whats best for them. Instead, we equip local leaders to bring a Biblical message of God's perfect plan for our lives, a purely medical and scientific message on what is the best choice regarding our sexuality from a scientific perspective, and a message of forgiveness, love, and of the everlasting hope that lies in Jesus Christ.

If you aren't able to make it to our annual UCE 'Backyard Braai' this August 2nd (but I hope you can make it!), I would ask that you prayerfully consider supporting UCE. You can pray with us by joining the UCE Prayer Warriors, you can volunteer with UCE, or you can support UCE financially. UCE now can also accept various types of in-kind donations. For each $2.91 UCE spends one young person commits to chastity and has their life changed forever. How many lives can you help us save? Our teams in Uganda, Burundi, and Tanzania, all have dozens of schools 'on their list' that have requested outreaches, but we need your help to reach them. It costs just $250 for our teams to reach one school. If you sponsor a school, you will receive a report from the UCE team detailing the outreach at the school you sponsored. May God bless you!

UCE Annual Report FY Ended 2013
"With light shining off their faces and truth coming from their lips, the UCE Burundi team brought a message that none had ever heard."

As we descended from the UCE team's mountain home of Makamba, Burundi to the lowlands of the neighboring district of Nyanza-Lac the temperature increased, and the air grew muggy and oppressive. We drove through the huge community built around fishing, and the mood of the people matched the stifling heaviness of the air. It seemed a place where hope was in short supply. When we arrived at the school, the students told us of pressures to leave school and either fish or exchange sex for money. Living with these challenges of extreme poverty, the youth saw no value in their lives.... Read more

Supporting, Srengthening and Sustaining a Healthy and Virtuous Youth with Chastity Education
Delivered June 5, 2014 at National Christian (Ecumenical) Centre (PDF)
Cardinal Wamala Leads UCE Conference
Youth were trained as UCE ambassadors to go forth and share the UCE message, over 200 attended the conference.

In his message, Cardinal Wamala thanked UCE for loving the youths and for sharing with them the lifesaving message of chastity. He said, "Often, life presents questions and challenges for which young people simply may not have answers; this is what draws us to Jesus, the author of lives, and once we believe in him and follow his plan for our lives, we will not get into problems with HIV/AIDS.  If any community is to raise young people free of diseases including HIV/AIDS in our world today, it will be the result of one thing-building their relationship with Jesus. Because of this truth, I am happy that the theme of this conference is: chastity through Jesus in every aspect of our daily lives."

He also added that, "Chastity is the best choice for everyone; be it bishops and clergy like myself, youths, husbands, wives, Catholics, non-Catholics, we all need the UCE message. Those promoting condoms totally got it wrong, besides not being 100 effective in preventing HIV, condom promoters distort the intentionality of a human being from a lover to a luster, and instead of making a weak person stronger, they make you a perfect sinner.".....Read more

The Second Disciples of Jesus
The team answered that challenge, and with Christ leading the way, they reached out to 20 schools in Ludewa District, Tanzania.

The team met the District Educational Officer (DEO) to receive a formal introduction and permit to speak at schools in the region. The DEO said, "This kind of job that you are doing is big and tough, considering that secondary school students have engaged in premarital sex. Several times I have been involved in the board meetings concerning students' discipline. The situation is very bad and parents have been involved in convincing their children to engage in premarital sex. Moreover there are organizations which teach and insist on the condom use thing that is against God's commandments. The difficulties come since sex involves feelings that many youth fail to control. I wished if I was given the power to decide for the country, I could say, preach about abstinence in every corner of this country, since that is the only help. If you win this war that you are going to fight then you are second disciple of Jesus. This does not mean I discourage you, but to challenge you so that you will know what kind of youth you are going to meet. Otherwise, I welcome you all in Ludewa District and I allow you to do that work."....Read more

Embrace Christ as the Protector
"We hold on to Abstinence, as taught by Universal Chastity Education, as the best method to preserve good health exempt of HIV/AIDS and other STDs."

"Lives will not remain the same with the UCE teachings. We will support and encourage these participants to share this message with their neighbors. We need to see the spread of HIV/AIDS being reduced as soon as possible. We have the tools to use, we are ready to start now. Thanks to the Diocese of Makamba for your initiative."....Read more
