Greetings!
Well two weeks into February and I'm so ready for Spring to hurry and get here! And speaking of Spring, let's talk "Putizia" here shall we?
My mother sends me one from Trieste, Italy every year for Easter (and when I get home sick), and though it is totally easy to make at home, I love getting the ones from her (a little momma love) as she purchases them from her little bakery on the corner.
Not often found in your typical Italian grocery store, because its origins are more Austrian than Italian, it is delicious. Nuts, citrus and rum or grappa make up the delightful , mouthwatering filling.
Wonderful warmed and served with after dinner liqueurs or a good strong cup of Illy Coffee (Also from Trieste, Italy).
Click here for the translated recipe from an Italian cooking school called Alberghiera.
Hope you'll enjoy reading this months tips on Mirrors! One of my best defenses for making rooms come alive!
Enjoy and keep decorating.

Mirror Mirror On The Wall, Who's The Fairest Of Them All?
The key to every well-dressed woman or man's wardrobe are the accessories! And so it is true also for the interiors of any room. You can spend many laborious hours with the selection and placement of what I call "the bones", or the furniture, but the rooms will just NOT look truly finished if they are not accessorized.
| | Notice the total width of the mirror arrangement is in direct proportions to the width of the sofa and two end tables! Makes a dramatic elevation to an otherwise wide, plain wall. |
One of the accessories I like to use in my room designs are Mirrors. Here are 5 ways to use mirrors as accessories in your home with great success and results;
1. Use a mirror as a focal point. Whether over a buffet table (to add drama to a dining area), on top of a fireplace mantle (to add width and height), or over a bed (to add romance and charm), a mirror can be a stunning star. After placing your mirror, dress up the focal point area. For living or dining rooms, flank the mirror with matching candle holders or floral arrangements.

The Leaner Mirror! I'm putting this one in a client's master bedroom. The silver frame is a design element that enhances the silver drapery hardware and bedside lamps. |
