Animals as Friends
and Mentors
with Dr. Ed Sellner
and musicians
Gabriel and Patrice

Dr. Sellner will speak about our inherent kinship with animals and what our pets in particular can teach us about unconditional love, healing, forgiveness, and joy.

Since this talk is so close to St. Patrick's Day, Ed will also discuss what the stories of the Celtic saints say about what true holiness consists of. As the great Scottish-American naturalist John Muir once said, "Animals might be the agents who once again make us realize that all life is precious."

Gabriel and Patrice from Gardeners of the Heart will be supporting Dr. Sellner's message with indigenous sacred drumming and chant.  Included will be a healing song and dance with Sacred Bear Medicine.

Dr. Ed Sellner is a professor emeritus in theology at St. Catherine University. Ed Sellner has taught courses and written articles and books on animal theology, and is a Fellow at the Oxford Centre of Animal Ethics in Oxford, England.

We will be with the greater community experiencing Animals as Friends and Mentors.

This year's theme:
We create beauty in our lives and our world
with Love, Wisdom, Respect, Honesty, Bravery,
Truth and Humility.

The foundation for the theme comes from
The Seven Grandfathers' Teachings
of the Ojibwe people.
NEXT SUNDAY
March 13, 2016
10:30am-11:30am

Eros and The Road Home
with Rev. Ron Moor
and musician Claudia Schmidt

In the journey that each of us lives, Eros is the guide of the quickened soul. The word for soul in the ancient Greek is psyche. Through the timeless myth of Eros and Psyche we will learn how Eros is more, much more than sexual encounter. It is the energetic force of spirit that calls our souls into mature unity, into the sacred marriage of soul and spirit. It is the call to our higher destiny.

As we continue our quest for our new home, it is Eros drawing our communal and individuals psyches to something more. Are we ready?

"Call the world if you Please
'The vale of Soul-making'
Then you will find out the use of the world."
~Keats

Dancing the Limbo
with Rev. Ron Moor

Saleem Adam Wolter gave a quick astrological reading for Spirit United and led us in sacred dance.

Ron presented the definition of and the history of the word limbo.  Did you know limbo is the middle stage of initiation?  The first stage is the being jerked away from what was. Then comes this state of limbo where one doesn't know what is happening or doing.  There is less certainty and even more unknowns. The last stage is being received into a new way of being.  Ron used Spirit United's need to move our community to a new location as an example.  We are now in the stage of limbo.

The Tao of Meditation Class
with Rev. Ron Moor

EVERY Wednesday, except holidays
10:00am-11:30am
$10-$15 suggested donation

Deepen your meditative practice, or begin one by joining us on Wednesday mornings. Our weekly gathering is to read, meditate and dialog on the profound wisdom found in the 2500 year-old text of "The Tao TeChing." These 81 short, poetic sayings have offered relief, gentle guidance, and a pathway to inner peace for countless millions of people.

Each week we will begin with a few minutes of breath work to deepen our focus, read one of the sayings, and then bring these ancient words into a 30-minute silent meditation. Following the meditation we will join in an open discussion of the meaning as it relates to our lives today. Part of our discussion will also be about how to deepen our practice of silence and stillness.

Are you feeling pulled between optimism for the future yet triggered by wounds from the past? Are you ready to stand with your truth but are extra emotional for "no reason"? Then this astrological seminar and shamanic healing journey may really help you while your donation will help Spirit United!
Currently, the planets are formed in a pattern that challenges, and supports us taking the next big step in our lives.

The solar eclipse on Wednesday, March 8th will be a powerful time to focus our intent and deepen our understanding of ourselves and our world today. Jeffery was moved to share some important astrological knowledge, as well as lead people through a healing meditation to integrate the energy.

Due to scheduling conflict on Tuesday the 8th, the seminar and meditation will be conducted on Monday the 7th, and those who wish to join on a conference call guided meditation at the time of the Eclipse on Tuesday will be given access.

Jeffery M. Grundtner has been an astrologer and healer for over 20 years and has been on a shamanic path since a near death experience at age 11.

SPIRIT UNITED
IS ON THE MOVE...

Ways to Engage
in the Process

See the block above for specific details of tasks currently being done.

Dear Members and Friends of Spirit United,
As we all know the success of Spirit United's move depends on the engagement of the people in our community. We hope you will be one of those who helps make the change.

These are the identified tasks thus far that require people to engage.  Look at the list. Determine where you will provide your skills and time.  Then, contact Patti Gmeiner by clicking here. (Below is information Patti needs to connect you with the task.  Be sure to see the last paragraph.)

1.   Cleaning and sorting.  People are needed to go through the entire space to get rid of things that have accumulated that are unnecessary for Spirit United to hold onto.  These things must be thrown out, given away or sold, depending upon their nature.

2.   Administrative Office.   We need a person(s) to help Joan go through her office, eliminate that which may be disposed of, then, sort, pack and clean when the time comes to do so.  (Joan has the last say on this one...that is, how, who, how many and when.)

3.  Packing.  We need people, when the time is right, to help pack up everything within the entire space and get it ready for transport.

4.  Moving.   We need people (unless we can find a reasonable commercial mover) to help move all items within the space either to the new home or to storage, depending upon the situation.

5.  Unpacking.   People will be needed to help unpack and place items in the new space to ready it for use.

6.  Initial Weeks of Operation.  We will need people to help get everything done in a timely fashion, during the first few weeks, to make sure that operations continue without missing a beat and to help while we are putting all of the persons needed to run the new space into position.

When you decide to volunteer for one or more of these tasks, please send an email to council member, Patti Gmeiner.  Click here to share your information:  Your name, telephone number, email address and the task(s) you are willing to volunteer.  After Patti receives your interest, she will send the names of others you will contact to plan and accomplish the task within the timeline needed.

Please let us hear from you soon to keep things moving forward.
Thank you,

and the Council of Stewards
