NEXT SUNDAY
February 21, 2016 10:30am-11:30am Stepping Into Largeness with Rev. Ron Moor and musician Lynn O'Brien
Our community, Spirit United has had thrust upon us a huge challenge. We have to move. How we respond, the decisions we make, the actions we take, will carry consequences far into our future. Together, we will explore the pitfalls and possibilities. Together we will explore the potential for communal and individual growth. We have been called out. How do we step into largeness, how do we meet our higher destiny? Anxiety is the dizziness of freedom. ~ Kierkegaard

EVERY WEDNESDAY The Tao of Meditation Class with Rev. Ron Moor EVERY Wednesday, except holidays 10:00am-11:30am $10-$15 suggested donation Deepen your meditative practice, or begin one by joining us on Wednesday mornings. Our weekly gathering is to read, meditate and dialog on the profound wisdom found in the 2500 year-old text of "The Tao TeChing." These 81 short, poetic sayings have offered relief, gentle guidance, and a pathway to inner peace for countless millions of people.
Each week we will begin with a few minutes of breath work to deepen our focus, read one of the sayings, and then bring these ancient words into a 30-minute silent meditation. Following the meditation we will join in an open discussion of the meaning as it relates to our lives today. Part of our discussion will also be about how to deepen our practice of silence and stillness.
~~~
Blossoming Hearts: Meditations of Peace and Healing Ourselves and Our World
EVERY Wednesday, except holidays 7:00pm - 8:30pm
Suggested donation $10-$15 All are welcome!
Deepen your spiritual practice. Each session will begin with breath and movement practices to help deepen our meditation. Then we will embark on a series of guided and silent meditations designed to bring greater peace and healing to ourselves and to our world. The focus will always be on peace and healing. Each week will vary according to the current needs of the world and of the group itself. We will do world work and we will do a group meditation for the collective individual needs.
Our guide is Ron Moor. He has been an adventurer of meditation for almost 40 years and has led and taught meditative practices across the country.
Windigo Con Healing Ceremony
Our Annual Mid-Winter Healing Ceremony hosted by The Anishinabeg Great Lakes Ogichida, Old Bald Eagle Society,
The "WIndigo Con" is also referred to as the "Clown or Contrary Ceremony." It helps us connect with our healing gifts we share as human beings. We refer to it as "getting in touch with your inner clown." One of our healing gifts and perhaps the most important is... the use of humor and laughter to promote healing.
Saturday, February 20, 2016 4:00pm to Midnight
Come early stay late, or not!
Free will donation.
Open to the public.
 Bring a pot luck item to share.
Bring your clown self!
Clown gear & dressing up encouraged.
Questions: Call Al Baker at 715-699-6348.
Grand Entry: 4 pm Singing, dancing to 11pm
Pot Luck Feast to follow ceremony
Have fun dancing, singing, eating and visiting with all of the clowns you haven't seen in a while! Furthermore, we should learn how to laugh at ourselves and never take ourselves too seriously.
This ceremony allows us to recognize the Contrary Nature of our human experience. So, with that being said, and being in the spirit of the contrary, I ask you to read the following and get a little laugh. The "Windigo Con Ceremony" is not the place to bring you or your family. You won't have any fun. Don't bring any of your Sacred items, because they won't be blessed and certainly don't bring any food to share. Hahaha.
We really hope to see you there.
Mandala Workshop: A "Know Thyself" Experiential
with Ellen Swanson
Sunday, February 21, 2016 1:00pm-4:00pm $35, which includes materials RSVP to Ellen by clicking here or calling 952-929-1142
The word 'mandala' comes from a Sanskrit root word meaning "enclosing the essence." I also like to think of it as embracing the essence. It is difficult to visualize the circular embrace of your own essence in this linear society. This model invites us to balance our seemingly singular focus on the linear with the contributions of the circular. Each person will be given a template and some fundamental principles on how to apply the template to yourself. There will be individual work and group discussion.
Certificates of attendance available upon request.
SPIRIT UNITED IS ON THE MOVE...
An Update of the relocation process
COMMUNITY MEETING this Sunday, February 14, 2016 immediately following the Sunday service at about 11:45am
~~~~~~~~~
Engage with the Move.... See the block above for specific details of tasks currently being done.
Dear Members and Friends of Spirit United, As we all know the success of Spirit United's move depends on the engagement of the people in our community. We hope you will be one of those who helps make the change.
These are the identified tasks thus far that require people to engage. Look at the list. Determine where you will provide your skills and time. Then, contact Patti Gmeiner by clicking here. (Below is information Patti needs to connect you with the task. Be sure to see the last paragraph.)
1. Cleaning and sorting. People are needed to go through the entire space to get rid of things that have accumulated that are unnecessary for Spirit United to hold onto. These things must be thrown out, given away or sold, depending upon their nature.
2. The library sorting and packing. People are needed to go through the entire library, eliminate duplicate copies and those books which may be ancient and no longer of relevance or of great interest to the community. The remainder need to be packed in boxes labeled.
3. Administrative Office. We need a person(s) to help Joan go through her office, eliminate that which may be disposed of, then, sort, pack and clean when the time comes to do so. (Joan has the last say on this one...that is, how, who, how many and when.)
4. Packing. We need people, when the time is right, to help pack up everything within the entire space and get it ready for transport.
5. Moving. We need people (unless we can find a reasonable commercial mover) to help move all items within the space either to the new home or to storage, depending upon the situation.
6. Unpacking. People will be needed to help unpack and place items in the new space to ready it for use.
7. Initial Weeks of Operation. We will need people to help get everything done in a timely fashion, during the first few weeks, to make sure that operations continue without missing a beat and to help while we are putting all of the persons needed to run the new space into position.
When you decide to volunteer for one or more of these tasks, please send an email to council member, Patti Gmeiner. Click here to share your information: Your name, telephone number, email address and the task(s) you are willing to volunteer. After Patti receives your interest, she will send the names of others you will contact to plan and accomplish the task within the timeline needed.
Please let us hear from you soon to keep things moving forward.
Thank you,
Rev. Ron Moor
and the Council of Stewards
