Spirit United's
Relocation Update

A CALL TO SERVICE
FOR SPIRIT UNITED ON THE MOVE
- OUR RELOCATION

Dear Members and Friends of Spirit United,

On January 6th, we were given a 90 day notice to vacate the present space.  We were delighted that approximately 45 - 50 people participated in the second forum on January 17 to discuss the next steps for our relocation.

As we all know the success of Spirit United's  move depends on the engagement of the people in our community. We hope you will be one of those who helps make the change.

So far, these are the identified tasks with which people need to engage.  Look at the list and please determine where you will provide your skills and time.

1.   Cleaning and sorting.  People are needed to go through the basement and every cupboard, closet, file, etc. throughout the entire space to get rid of junk which may have accumulated, old items without value or those which may be otherwise unnecessary for the community to hang onto.  These things must be thrown out, given away or sold, depending upon their nature.   (We may already have enough volunteers for this item, but let us know of your interest, if you have one).

2.   The library sorting and packing.  People are needed to go through the entire library, eliminate duplicate copies or those books which may be ancient and no longer of very relevant or of great interest to the community.  The remainder need to be packed in boxes and the boxes labeled so that we know generally what types of books are in each.

3.   Administrative Office.   We need a person(s) to help Joan go through her office, eliminate that which may be disposed of, then, sort, pack and clean when the time comes to do so.  (Joan has the last say on this one...that is how who, how many and when).

4.  Packing.  We need people, when the time is right, to help pack up everything within the entire space and get it ready for transport.

5.  Moving.   We need people (unless we can find a reasonable commercial mover) to help move all items within the space either to the new home or to storage, depending upon the situation.

6.  Unpacking.   People will be needed to help unpack and place items in the new space to ready it for use.

7.  Initial Weeks of Operation.  We will need people to help get all done in a timely fashion, during the first few weeks, to make sure that operations continue without missing a beat and to help while we are putting all of the persons needed to run the new space into position.

If you are willing to volunteer for one or more of these needs, please send an email to council member, Patti Gmeiner.  Click here to share your information:  Your name, telephone number, email address and the task(s) you are willing to volunteer.  After Patti receives your interest, she will send the names of others you will contact to plan and accomplish the task within the timeline needed.

Please let us hear from you soon to keep things moving forward.
Thank you,

Rev. Ron Moor
and the Council of Stewards

Spirit United Emerging Through Presence, Practice, and Play
with Rev. Ron Moor

Forces are all around and within each of us. They are calling us to change.  Fear, lethargy, anxiety, ambiguity, ambivalence, depression...are some of the forces Ron talked about.  How we respond to these forces can bring meaningful, positive growth and affect our destiny.  As an example Ron spoke of the change Spirit United is facing. He explained spiritual practices can support us as we embark on our journey toward meaningful growth.

Prepare and Sign-Up at SU

Sunday, February 14, 2016, is the date!

Rather than waiting until August, we are having it now.  So, rosin up your bow; brush the dust off your favorite poetry book; warm up your voice; take out your paintings.  Look into your life and find a joy you'd like to share.

Plan to support and watch with delight in your community's many hidden or not so hidden talents.  This is a day of joy and hearts connecting.

Meditations of Peace and Healing Ourselves and Our World

EVERY Wednesday
7:00pm - 8:30pm
 Suggested donation $10-$15
All are welcome!

Deepen your spiritual practice.  Each session will begin with breath and movement practices to help deepen our meditation. Then we will embark on a series of guided and silent meditations designed to bring greater peace and healing to ourselves and to our world.  The focus will always be on peace and healing. Each week will vary according to the current needs of the world and of the group itself. We will do world work and we will do a group meditation for the collective individual needs.

Our guide for month of January is Ron Moor.  He has been an adventurer of meditation for almost 40 years and has led and taught meditative practices across the country.

A BOOK GATHERING

The Grace of Ordinary Days  by Bernie Saunders
and his poet mother Kay Saunders  Sunday, January 31, 2016
12:00pm-1:00pm

From Bernie Saunders, you hear his first-hand account of collaborating with his poet mother, Kay Saunders, in writing the book, The Grace of Ordinary Days.  It has been described as "Tuesdays with Morrie meets Georgia O'Keeffe," their story is a rare glimpse into the separate but inseparably linked lives of a mother and son.

The Grace of Ordinary Days story is the perfect preparation for family celebrations. Kay's and Bernie's story may resonate with your own relationships and may prompt you to recount, with a loved one or by yourself, the grace of your own ordinary days.

To see more of Bernie's photography click here to go to his online galleries.  You won't be disappointed.
