ACTIVATING HOPE
AROUND THE WORLD
with guest speaker Gary J Boelhower, PhD
and musicians Meg Miura and David Chapman

We activate hope decision by decision every day. Although the daily news proclaims a world divided and in conflict, there is a deeper wisdom that recognizes the common principles that unite the interconnected human family on its daily journey. When we understand these universal principles that are shared across the spiritual traditions of the world, we have reason to hope. When we make wise decisions based on these common principles, we bring hope alive in a world hungry for justice and peace.

The Love That Moves the Stars
with Rev. Ron Moor
and musician Josie Just

Easter 2015
On this third Sunday of Expectancy we will explore  the state of being we call Love, the love that exists in true friendship and community. Consideration of friends, family, and community all become more heightened this time of year as each of us ponders how, where, and with whom we will mark this time of shivery cold, and long, dark nights. Yet it is in the cold darkness, light is reborn and a new year begins.

PEACE

with guest speaker
Yvette Erasmus with musicians
Meg Miura and David Chapman

Yvette spoke about her experience of integrating into her life the practice of nonviolent communication.  She shared how it has transformed her being in relationship with herself, others, life and the world.  It manifests peace.  As a teacher of this practice, she gave a quick overview of its concept and a few steps to implement it into daily living.  Her passion and insight communicates when one fully immerses into this practical and spiritual way of living, peace does happen

Join us for a screening of perhaps the most beloved American film, It's a Wonderful Life. Frank Capra's masterwork deserves its status as a feel-good communal event, but it is also one of the most fascinating films in the American cinema. George Bailey (James Stewart) grows up in a small town dreaming dreams of adventure and travel. Circumstances conspire to keep him enslaved to his home turf. Frustrated by his life, and haunted by an impending scandal, George prepares to commit suicide on Christmas Eve. A heavenly messenger (Henry Travers) arrives to show him a vision: what the world would have been like if George had never been born. Capra's triumphant in acknowledging the difficulties and disappointments of life, while affirming his cherished values of friendship and individual achievement.
