SPIRIT SUNDAY CELEBRATION
(AND A POTLUCK AFTERWARDS)
with
You, Our Community,
The Spirit United Players Theatre,
and musician Yazmin

The invitations were sent. Did you get yours?
If not, no worries.

It is Spirit Sunday time! It is time to bring our community together in celebration. It is time to renew our commitment to who we are and what  we do.

On this first Sunday of autumn 2015, an extra special service is planned with music by Yazmin,
the debut of The Spirit United Players Theatre, and you.  Bring your lovely spirit and if you have some music you love, bring that too!  Together we will create a ceremony of community, song and blessing.  (Bring a favorite dish to share in the Potluck after the service while we listen to music favorites.)

Planning to visit Spirit United for the first time? Today is a wonderful day to meet us. We will welcome you with open arms, eager to share with you the essence of who we are. Be ready to join us as you are comfortable; bring yourself and your favorite music, if you choose.

We have so much to celebrate, and so much to look forward to. Join us!
By Betty LaDuke.

LAST SUNDAY
September 20, 2015

The Union of Human Love
with Divine Love

with
guest speaker
             Dr. James Ulness

     and guest musician      Sara Thomsen

James began with "When you came into this plane of existence through birth, you carried with you what you brought from  your experience on the other side...after all that is your real home....  This (Earth) is a temporary place, a home away from home where you came to learn things that you can only learn on this plane of existence."

This materialistic time, covers over all the you experienced and know from the other side.  And a veil is placed over your memory so that you do not remember.  Because the remembering would prevent you from doing the learning you need to do. We are here to work on soul development along with spirit and other cultural formative forces to help us learn to love.  Know all your learning which is compatible with love, remains for all eternity.... Overcome selfishness; work at and appreciate; be conscious of beauty.  This will bring you strength of character - Life; Peace; Joy; Love.

Tibetan Monks at Spirit United!

We have the privilege to host six or seven monks from the Labrang Tashikyil Monastery in Dehra Dun, India.  They are touring the United States to teach the Dharma, educate the public about the culture and religion of Tibet, and to raise much needed funds for their monastery.
(This is the monastery's third USA Tour.)

The monks will be chanting sacred prayers and perform Chod (a ceremony to cut off attachments).  An introduction will be made by Thupten Dadak of Heart of Tibet, Sky Door in Minneapolis.

Come be in the good energy
of the evening
and our community.

We are grateful for the co-sponsors:
Heart of Tibet, Sky Door and Spirit United.
Thank you.

Background Information about Tashi Kyil Monastery:
Following the destruction of the original Labrang Tashi Kyil Monastery in Amdo, Tibet, Venerable Gunthang Tsultrim and other exiled monks rebuilt their monastery in Dehra Dun, India in1967.  To the present day, the chanting styles, rituals, practices, and self initiations are preserved just as they were in Mejung Thosamling College in Labrang Tashi Kyil in Amdo. In addition to Dharma studies, the monastery offers classes in Tibetan grammar and English.

When Arjia Rinpoche, Director of the Tibetan Mongolian Buddhist Cultural Center, was Abbot of Kumbum Monastery in Amdo, Tibet, before he left in 1998, Kumbum and Labrang Tashi Kyil Monastery (also located in Amdo, Tibet) worked closely together serving Tibetan Buddhists in the region. Both monasteries are members of the Gelugpa Sect of Tibetan Buddhism. Arjia Rinpoche is now Director of Kumbum Chamtse Ling in Indiana and Labrang Tashi Kyil is a refugee monastery in Dhra Dun, India. Both current monasteries wish to continue to work together to teach the public about the culture and religion of Tibet.

Happenings
Autumn 2015 Equinox Celebration
with the Spirit Walkers

It was a highly energetic night filled with beautiful ceremonies, drumming, singing and dancing.

The night began with Jorge Villanueva Castillo and Guillermo Luebbert doing drum healings and then a circle of fire healing for participants. Our native friends Al Baker and Darnell St. John lead a pipe ceremony, and a ceremony to bless and activate Spirit United's large drum.  Darnell St. John and Andrew played the water drum and sang for us.

Lots of beautiful Ojibwe singing and drumming! Ron estimated the crowd to be 90 people.

Watch for Full Moon Celebration information.
