with
guest speaker
             Dr. James Ulness
     and guest musician
      Sara Thomsen

Dr. Ulness is professor emeritus in psychology at Concordia College in Moorhead, MN.  He has a unique approach to the study of human nature and the social order. He is especially interested in helping people who are having unusual experiences of a psychic, spiritual, or mystical nature to understand what is happening and thus better integrate these experiences into their personality in a healthier way.

SARA THOMSEN IS HERE!  Bettie Seitzer and others in our SU community proclaimed over and over, "This is a BIG deal! Sara is amazing and in high demand. What a gift for us."  MN Women's Press says "Thomsen's soulful voice, poetic lyrics and unforgettable melodies cut through to the heart and the soul of human experience,"  To learn more about Sara Thomsen click here.

Dr. Ulness presents his "Spiritual Psychology of Soul Development" workshop after the Sunday service.  See below for details.

SPIRIT SUNDAY CELEBRATION
(AND A POTLUCK AFTERWARDS)
with
You, Our Community,
The Spirit United Players Theatre,
and musician Yazmin

The invitations were sent. Did you get yours?
If not, no worries.

It is Spirit Sunday time! It is time to bring our community together in celebration. It is time to renew our commitment to who we are and what  we do.

On this first Sunday of autumn 2015, an extra special service is planned with music by Yazmin,
the debut of The Spirit United Players Theatre, and you.  Bring your lovely spirit and if you have some music you love, bring that too!  Together we will create a ceremony of community song and blessing.  (Bring a favorite dish to share with the Potluck after the service.)

Planning to visit Spirit United for the first time? Today is a wonderful day to meet us. We will welcome you with open arms, eager to share with you the essence of who we are. Be ready to join us as you are comfortable; bring yourself and your favorite music if you choose.

We have so much to celebrate, and so much to look forward to. Join us!

"Giving Form to Spirit"
with
community member
Jennelle Donnay
   and guest musician
        Linda Breitag

Jennelle Donnay (dancer, choreographer, movement coach, seeker of spiritual truth) shared how helping her students open to communicating through dance illuminates the human spirit (hers, her students and beyond). As dance became instrumental to Jennelle's journey for spiritual truth, she awakened to how dance gives form to spirit on the physical plane.  This understanding led the way to express and be within pure trust by allowing the expression of emotional truth from the essence of one's being.  Linda Breitag's music enhanced Jenelle's dance of words beautifully.  To listen, click here

Re-write
the Story of Community

Spirit United is rewriting the story of what it means to be in community by sharing the tasks it takes to thrive.  You are being called to find your role in the Spirit United 2015 Fall Festival, November 15 after the Sunday service.

Many people are needed for a variety of roles. Talk to Janet or contact the office to state your willingness or to inquire about what would be helpful.

The heart of the festival, The Bistro, is seeking planners and helpers.  Talk to Sandy or contact the office.

Keep in mind: You are the change agent to create the "many hands (that) make light work."

with
Dr. James Ulness
Sunday, September 20, 2015
12:15pm-2:30pm
$20 Investment

The general theme of the workshop is one of raising consciousness to meet the growing opportunities of service to the greater humanity. One aspect of these talks is that the title is usually a jumping off point to what the Ancient Wisdom teachers want conveyed to us.

Dr. Ulness will be our guest speaker at the Sunday Service on this day as well.
Foundations of Healing:
An Introduction to Energy Healing
with Ron Moor

Tuesdays, Sept. 22 -Dec. 15
(No class:  Oct. 27, Nov. 3)
7:00pm-9:00pm
Investment: $30 per class for total $330 or $300 if paid by Sept. 22

In this introductory class we will learn to do hands-on energy healing through lecture, discussion, lots of energy system building exercises, and lots of practice on one another.  We will learn of the subtle energy system of the body, the "chakras", how it works, how to tap into it, how to enhance our lives and how to offer healing with it.  We will learn a full body healing technique called chelation so that we may enhance our ability to be in service in this ancient way.

 MN Court of Appeals Revokes
Sandpiper Certificate, Requires Enviornmental Impact Statement

The Sandpiper and Line 3 pipelines have been indefinitely postponed because they both are proposed for the same new corridor.  (The Sandpiper is the line proposed for the tar sands oil and Line 3 is the operating  oil line Enbridge has proposed to abandon.)

The ruling states:  "Because the decision to grant a certificate of need for a large oil pipeline constitutes a major governmental action that has the potential to cause significant environmental effects, we conclude that MN Environmental Protection Agency (MEPA) requires an environmental impact statement to be completed before a final decision is made to grant or deny a certificate of need. Accordingly, we reverse and remand for respondent Minnesota Public Utilities Commission (MPUC) to reconsider whether to issue a certificate of need after an environmental impact statement has been completed."

Her text to Ellen follows.
(Ellen embedded thoughts and questions and I edited a bit to make it smooth.)

Hi Ellen I have written to your phone a couple times but not sure you are getting it. [She must be really tired because she knows I don't text, email, twitter, pee, or burp from my phone!]

Wanted to contact you before Friday's movie. [How did she find out about Friday's movie? We planned it after she left.]

First, I so appreciate it will be showing. (The movie night was last week; sorry I couldn't get Susan's text into the newsletter prior to the showing.)

Like the movie I started in France at Jean pied de Port. Day 1 was my life's biggest physical challenge. It pushed me beyond all my possible limits but we did it. It was so beautiful. I wish I had been able to appreciate the spectacular beauty.

Each day we have challenged ourselves to get just a little further. We arrive completely spent. We take a shower, short nap and are revived.

The customs are opposite of our needs. We get up and on the road by 6 but here they don't usually get breakfast going til 1 (really meaning 11?)  We are starved by 4 but dinner is not served til 7 or 8. My diet is so hard. Everything revolves around bread. Doing the best I can.

Finished day 23, 10 more to walk then after (my friend)  leaves. So (I will) have 1 week alone. Yikes yet an(other) adventure. Much phone trouble. Using (my friend's). She is on Facebook with pics [if you]  can access it. The accommodations
This is Ellen.
are pretty basic. No privacy.

Enjoy the movie.
I am thinking of all of you.
Love you. S
