March 25, 2015
Greetings!
Some of Life's Metaphors:
A laugh in the sea of sadness. She swam in a sea of diamonds.Love is growing a garland.
Your friendship is a picture to my frame.
Authority is a chair, it needs legs to stand up.
Words are false idols.
Ideas are wings.
The sea is a hungry lion.
He kicked the bucket.
A heart of gold.
A light in the sea of darkness.
Strength and dignity is what she is made of.
Heart of a lion.
He is the sun of my sky.
Pull up your socks.
Life is mere a dream, a fleeting shadow on a cloudy day.
Drowning in the sea.
Jumping for joy.
Fear is a beast that feeds on attention.
Spiritual seeking is treasure hunting.
Life's journey is a bicycle ride down the hill.
Ideas are water.
Thoughts are a storm, unexpected.

NEXT SUNDAY
Easter Sunday
April 5, 2015
10:30am-11:30am Awakening the Dreamer to the Beautiful New Worldwith Rev. Ron Moor and guest musicians Josie Schmidt Just and Brian Just
Do you live on the earth or in the earth? What dream are you dreaming? Our sub theme for April this year is The Spiritual Practice of Walking the Earth. We will embody this theme beginning with our celebration of Easter. For this special Sunday we are inviting you to dress up a bit in some spring clothes, maybe even a fancy hat, and to also bring a spring flower, cut or potted, to place on our altar and bring home after the service. Once again, Tom Vetter will gift us with his wondrous Easter labyrinth that will grace the floor of our sanctuary. As you emerge from walking the labyrinth you will have the option of receiving an anointing with a special blend of oils, called a chrism. Joining us for this service and providing our music is our former musical director, Josie Schmidt Just and her husband Brian. Rev. Moor's message this year is entitled Awakening the Dreamer to the Beautiful New World. It is a message of how increasingly we are waking up from the old dream of separation, over consuming and competing. Our Easter service will begin a month of activities including A Cabaret of Consciousness with the amazing Gina Citoli Saturday, April 18, 2015 and concludes with the evocative, inspirational Awakening The Dreamer Symposium on April 26, the Sunday following Earth Day. The symposium is facilitated by our friends of The Pachamama Alliance. So mark your calendars, get your spring clothes out of the back of the closet, and join us for a special Easter service.

Explore More Deeply the Spiritual Practice of Wearing Skin with Rev. Ron Moor
Unfortunately there was a difficulty and the service was not recorded. So, Ron wrote the following to provide a deeper synopsis of the service.
Spring has officially arrived. Over 120 of us joined at Spirit United on Friday evening, March 20, to drum, chant, tone, and celebrate this turning of the wheel to a new season. Our sub-theme for March is The Spiritual Practice of Wearing Skin. Our service this past Sunday was a reminder that our physical bodies are being called as well as our consciousness to the new paradigm of inter-being. Think of all the physical activities that have become more and more popular over the past 40 years, all the health clubs that dot the landscape, all the yoga, tai chi, quigong, and martial arts classes. Think of the surge in diet awareness and the exploding organic food movement. Our bodies are less and less considered to be just a vehicle for our brain, something we have to maintain like an automobile. Our body is our mind, our mind is our body. The time of separation between body, mind, soul, and spirit is ending as we move into the new paradigm. As we integrate our entire being into a wholeness, we are more able to be conscious of our connection with the greater body/mind of the world. The time of separation, of the old story, is coming to an end. Are you ready?
The Old Wisdom
by Jane Goodall
When the night wind makes the pine trees creak
And the pale clouds glide across the dark sky,
Go out, my child, go out and seek
Your soul: the eternal I.
For all the grasses rustling at your feet
And every flaming star that glitters high
Above you, close up and meet
In you: the Eternal I.
Yes, my child, go out into the world; walk slow
And silent, comprehending all, and by and by
Your soul, the Universe, will know
Itself: the Eternal I.

Resilient Grieving - Reasonable Hope Class with Ted Bowman Sunday, March 29, 2015 12:30pm - 3:00pm $15
Metaphorical shipwreck may occur with the loss of a relationship, violence to one's property, collapse of a career venture, physical illness or injury, defeat of a cause, a fateful choice that irrevocably reorders one's life, betrayal by a community or government, or the discovery that an intellectual construct is inadequate. (Parks)
However named, grieving such losses may be essential for a fuller grief experience AND beginning to dream and hope again. In this interactive session, participants will be presented with distinctions of altered assumptions and expectations. Further, ways of practicing resilient grieving and reasonable hope will be addressed.
Bio: Ted Bowman is a grief and family educator. He is also an adjunct professor in the School of Social Work at the University of Saint Thomas. He is the author of numerous chapters, articles and books, many of which address themes of grief and hope.
After Ted led a Sunday service in 2014 he was asked by Spirit United to offer a class because of the outpouring community members asking for more from him.
