Greetings!
Yet here we sit, with our souls tucked away in this marvelous luggage, mostly insensible to the ways in which every spiritual practice begins with the body.

THIS SUNDAY
Mystery School Sunday
Going Deeper
March 22, 2015
10:30am-11:30am
Explore More Deeply the Spiritual Practice of Wearing Skin with Rev. Ron Moor
What does the emerging "new story" that Charles Eisenstein calls "interbeing" mean for our own personal relationship with our physical body, our self, each other, our planet and our spirituality? How is it different from the "old story"? How do we more fully live this new story and let go of the old one of separation? Join us for this month's Mystery School Sunday as we explore more deeply The Spiritual Practice of Wearing Skin. Ron will share luminous images, inspirational quotes and sacred chant.

Resilient Grieving - Reasonable Hope Class with Ted Bowman Sunday, March 29, 2015 12:30pm - 3:00pm $15
Metaphorical shipwreck may occur with the loss of a relationship, violence to one's property, collapse of a career venture, physical illness or injury, defeat of a cause, a fateful choice that irrevocably reorders one's life, betrayal by a community or government, or the discovery that an intellectual construct is inadequate. (Parks)
However named, grieving such losses may be essential for a fuller grief experience AND beginning to dream and hope again. In this interactive session, participants will be presented with distinctions of altered assumptions and expectations. Further, ways of practicing resilient grieving and reasonable hope will be addressed.
Bio: Ted Bowman is a grief and family educator. He is also an adjunct professor in the School of Social Work at the University of Saint Thomas. He is the author of numerous chapters, articles and books, many of which address themes of grief and hope.
After Ted led a Sunday service in 2014 he was asked by Spirit United to offer a class because of the outpouring community members asking for more from him.

Deep Compassionate Listening:
A Gift of Awakening
facilitated by Dr. Mark Umbreit

Music At Spirit United
Hello! I am excited to be coordinating the music for us here at Spirit United; and thank you for all the support and encouragement that you have given me. I want to share with you some of my thoughts about music programming and my goals. (The goals are not listed in priority order.)
First, I want to continue booking a variety of musicians, including bringing new performers to our rotation. I welcome feedback that will help me to understand what we like (and maybe what we don't like). If you know of musicians we have not engaged but should, please let me know. I will pursue those leads! I am also reaching out to my friends and contacts to find good fits for us.
Second, I would like to schedule three or four concert events each year. These events can coincide with an album release or another event such as the Solstices. I have several goals for these events: These events will be an opportunity for us to gather as a community to support some of our favorite artists in a very comfortable setting. These events will attract new people to our community. And, these events will contribute to Spirit United's general fund!
Third, I would like to form a community choir! I know that some of us love to sing and would be willing to lead the congregation in singing our gathering song, chants and songs on Mystery School Sundays. Since there is no budget for this, we would all be volunteers. What I can offer is for this group to meet once a month at my house - we can define the parameters of the meeting - to sing together and prepare the music we will have available. When we are successful, we might even be the music at a Sunday service.
Fourth, I would like to start a music program with Kids With Spirit (KWS). This is a special shared wish from my dear friend Shannon and myself. There is absolutely no budget for this program; I am working on creative solutions to make this happen without a budget. But - I we develop a program our congregation likes, the kids would provide music once or twice a year, which would give us a little budget to work with. The music has to be relevant to the young people and I will work with Shannon (and the kids) to develop the program. Music provides so many developmental advantages that this has become a personal goal for my husband and myself.
Finally, I am your humble servant. All of my goals are about providing the music programming our community wants. I know I cannot please all of the people all of the time; but over time, I hope I can please everyone!
Joyfully,
Bettie Seitzer
