The way to happiness:

Keep your heart free from hate, your mind from worry.

Live simply, expect little, give much.

Twelve Ways of Spirit

January: The Practice of Waking Up to Spirit

"My life depends upon ignoring all touted distinctions between the secular and the sacred, the physical and the spiritual, the body and the soul.

What is saving my life now is becoming more fully human,

trusting there is no way to God apart from real life in the real world."

~Barbara Brown Taylor, An Altar in the World

THIS SUNDAY
January 4, 2015
10:30am-11:30am
Twelve Ways of Spirit: Starting Our Journey Into a Year of Spiritual Growth
with Rev. Ron Moor

On this first Sunday in 2015, Ron will introduce our theme for the year from which we will explore 12 "spiritual" practices, each of which we have an opportunity to engage nearly every day in our "normal" lives.  We do so to deepen who we are and to be more able to participate in the unfolding transformation of our world.  Ron will also speak to January's sub-theme Waking Up To Spirit.

Ron will be referencing and using the following books as a guide throughout the year:  Barbara Brown Taylor's An Altar in the World: A Geography of Faith (Harper Collins) and  Charles Eisenstein's The More Beautiful World Our Heart Knows Is Possible (North Atlantic Books).

"The Unity of Now: Our Concluding School Sunday for 2014 " with Rev. Ron Moor

Ron led us on a brief review of 2014.  He reminded us of our journey seeking to ground ourselves in the eternal present and call in our higher destiny.  He highlighted our role in co-creating the New Story of our world, a world with more beauty, more joy, more connection, more exuberance and more love than the one we have known.  Click here to listen.

Our class is our community, our classmates are our clients.  After a couple of weeks of learning and preparation, each following week we will create and perform a 60 minute healing ritual for a member of our class.  Then we will discuss and process  what we are called to do and be.  Through our creating, through our doing, through Ron's supervision we will all grow, we will all heal.

Deepen your meditative practice or begin one by joining us.  We will gather weekly to read, meditate, and dialog on the profound wisdom found in the 2500 year old text of The Tao Te Ching.  These 81 short, poetic sayings have offered relief, gentle guidance, and a pathway to inner peace for countless millions.  Each week we will begin with a few minutes of breath work to deepen our focus, read one of the sayings, and then bring these ancient words into a 30 minute silent meditation.  Following the meditation we will join in an open discussion of the meaning as it relates to our lives today.

Waking Up to Spirit Quotes

Wake up your soul! Wake up your spirit! Life isn't a journey, and it is time to get your hands dirty by doing something that is worthwhile.                  ~Senora Roy

Once you develop a deep awareness of your silent spirit and are able to live nobly within the body knowing that you are not the body itself, but rather the one in the body, you can experience life to the fullest without worries. You will not need approval of others. Spirit is the most powerful part of your being. Your physical body  has very little to do with who you really are. To live life only from a physical perspective is to live life from an elusive, temporary part of your being. There is a grander world that exists right here than that which the majority experience.                             ~Linda Bocanegra,
