June 5, 2013

Greetings!

"Perfect and bulletproof are seductive, but they don't exist in the human experience.  We must walk into the arena, whatever it may be - a new relationship, an important meeting, our creative process or a difficult family conversation - with courage and the willingness to engage.  Rather than sitting on the sidelines and hurling judgment and advice, we must dare to show up and let ourselves be seen.  This is vulnerability.  This is Daring Greatly."

June: Where We Live

This Sunday ~ June 9, 2013 ~ 10:30-11:30am

"The Mystery of the Heart"

By: James Ulness
JamesUlness
We know very little about the true nature of the human heart.  Our knowledge arises only from materialistic science or an emotional standpoint.  However, the human heart, as Rudolf Steiner knew and taught, is both spiritual and physical, a place where body and soul come together.

Bio:
James Ulness, PhD, is a long-time professor of psychology at Concordia College in Moorhead, MN.  He has developed and taught spiritual psychology since the early 1970's.  Besides the in-depth psychology of Carl Jung and the insights of Rudolf Steiner, Dr. Ulness draws from the Mystery Wisdom of the ages for a deeper understanding of human nature and the social order.

"Meeting Our Fathers"
By Claudia Schmidt

Claudia Schmidt

Many of us grow up with a father figure, but not necessarily a fleshed-out human being.  We need to make that deeper connection (and find our place in their lives) to complete ourselves.

Join us for this inspirational Father's Day Celebration through the music, poetry and message of Claudia Schmidt.

"COMING HOME"
By
Rev. Ron Moor
Ron Speaking on Health
The message was COMMUNITY, that for which we are striving through the new paradigm.
  • Community has power beyond and greater than the membership alone.
  • Community does not seek self perpetuation, so it can continuously reinvent itself.
  • The purpose of community is to bring more life into the world than could be done alone.
  • The higher purpose of community is to bring what we do into harmony with the spiritual worlds.

Beautiful thoughts and a wonderful service.  If you missed it, click here to listen.

At a funeral, Harold befriends Maude, a 79-year-old woman who has a zest for life. She and Harold spend much time together during which she exposes him to the wonders and possibilities of life. Harold announces that he is to be married to Maude, however, Maude has a surprise for Harold that is to change his life forever.  Summary  by Rick Gregory

Sat. June 9, 1:45-5:45pm:  Theosophy Workshop with James Ulness.
"Walking the Spiritual Path with Practical Feet."  Reading, studying, concentration exercises, meditation, etc. are all good and necessary for our spiritual growth, but our culture tends to be impatient for results.  This workshop will focus on some practical steps that we can take immediately to begin to see progress in our growth.  Bring a notebook.

Cost:  $30 Adults
           $25 Seniors and Students
           $40 Couples or families.

Mon. June 10, 7:00-9:00pm:  Ulness Lecture and Discussion.  "Pilgrimage to the Tree of Life."  Ordinary knowledge is entirely sense-based, which cuts us off from the Tree of Life.  We continue to eat off the Tree of Knowledge, but with the help of Archangel Michael, knowledge can become Spiritual Knowledge, which is compatible with all life.  If we continue to approach all issues, social, economic, political, etc. without spiritual knowledge, it may have a deadening effect on our civilization.

Cost:  $ 4 Members
           $ 6  Non-members
           $10 Couples and Families

Mon. June 24, 7:00-9:00pm: Movie Night.
Presenting a film of His Holiness, the Dalai Lama, speaking intimately and candidly to the Chicago Theosophical Society on the subject of bridging our spiritual journeys with each other.

Free refreshments.  Love donation requested.

How adventurous would life be, if you were "challenge free?"  If you had the perfect body, perfect self-esteem, everyone adored you, and you won the lottery every Sunday?

Not.

Now what if, painful as they may temporarily be, you could choose a life during which challenges might arise whenever your thinking needed expansion, on the sole condition that every one of them could be overcome no matter how daunting they may at first seem?

Everything makes you more,
