Spirit United Matters

  • The Spirit Vine Listeners will be available after church services for a one-on-one talking/listening session for anyone who needs an ear or support for whatever may be happening in his or her life.  You will find a Spirit Vine person outside the meditation room after the service for this purpose.  This idea and request came from several of those people attending the "Who are We and Where are We going " forum a few weeks ago.  Thanks for the suggestion.

Greetings!

In our soul everything
moves guided by a mysterious hand:
ununderstandable, not speaking,
we know nothing of our souls.

Transformation: A testament to Community.
It took many hands to transform the Spirit United sanctuary and gathering space in just one week.  Thirty+ people remained after church on the 21st to begin the prep work for painting and reorganizing.  Community is like a baseball team: it takes each willing player, with his or her specific individual skills and abilities, to create the end result.  We are very fortunate to have such terrific volunteers.

On the renovation team, Robin Rick wrote the play book by designing the space, Ginny Cone coached by calling in and positioning the players and Raphael Holden showed up daily as the most valuable player, without whose strengths and talents...not to mention his construction tools...Spirit United's Sunday Service on the 28th would have taken place in a pile of rubble.   Here are some memories.

KevinSageEllen
Sage the door-frame taper (height), Ellen the base board taper (lack of height) and Kevin the critic (prior construction experience) use their natural talents to aid in the prep work.

Linda and Ann Marie Cleaning
Part of the Cleaning Crew: Linda and Ann Marie clean and rinse miles and miles of base boards.

RaphaelHoldenExplaining
Raphael explains the rudiments to the volunteers.  Rule 1: Don't fall off the scaffolding.  Ginny, who  was concentrating hard above on the instructions, obviously didn't  understand.

Thank you all.  We did it!!!!

"And the Word
-Sophia-
Was With God"
By:
Rev. Ron Moor

The voice of the Soul of the World, or Sophia, having been rendered silent for long centuries, is beginning to sing again.  The ancient words for her singing was "the music of the spheres."  Our theme for May is Learning Through Soul, and it is about learning to hear, and join in, the songs of the Music of the Spheres.  To hear, and sing again, we must learn to read Creation like we do a beautifully written book.  This is learning of soul, learning as love.

Join us this Sunday as we begin to learn how to bring more beauty into the world.  Special music by James Schattauer.

"Finding the Light  Within"
May 12, 2013  ~  10:30-11:30am
By: Jennelle Donnay, Michael Dinsmore and Justin Orloff

FreedomWe live in a fast-paced world, with high tech phones, media and weapons.  Consumerism challenges the resources on our Earth.  How does one find balance within the new technologies and seeming chaos of today?

Please join us as new members, Jennelle Donnay, Michael Dinsmore and Justin Orloff,  share with us from the perspective of younger adults, how they seek to find the light within the darkness of this struggle.  By going through the darkness, and with the support of community, a light can be born.

Within a week's time, Spirit United underwent significant renovation and change.  To bring in the new, Bobby Kokott lead the community in Tibetan chants, Rev. Ron honored those who participated in the renovation and Barbara Bobrowitz provided a short feng shui ritual while Raphael Holden hung a crystal from the ceiling.  Rev. Ron then provided a fascinating school Sunday on health and food as seen from both the cellular and universal points of view.  If you were unable to attend, click here to listen.

Whether or not you have children, this is for women who want to nurture and be nurtured, heal and be healed.  These two days are dedicated to healing, inspiration and practical support for being more of the mother you wish you'd had.
