April: Health and Food

This Sunday, April 28
A School Sunday
Ritual of Renewal and
Living the New Paradigm: Health

The scheduled School Sunday will be preceded by a short ritual of renewal to honor and rededicate the beautifully renovated  space that houses the Spirit United Community. Following the ceremony, Rev. Ron will talk about health as it may be experienced in the new paradigm, which goes well beyond traditional allopathic medicine and even stretches alternative medicine.

Presently, we tend to focus on disease as something bad, to be defeated, eliminated from our lives entirely.  What if disease is the inescapable partner to health, the yin to the yang, the soul to the spirit?  How might exploring disease in this way be helpful and even healthful?  Can working with disease in this way create medical treatment that is also a way of caring for the soul of the world?

Guest chant leader: Bobby Kokott.

"The Dragonfly Dialogues"
By: James Schattauer
JamesHeadshot

In celebration of Earth Day, James Schattauer
shared wonderful stories of the importance of nature to him, even as a very young boy, and read excerpts from his mystical experiences with a dragonfly.  His music, words and mystical messages have been caught and preserved on our electronic recording devices so you have not missed it.  Click here to listen.

"RIVERS AND TIDES"

MovieTicketThis astonishing documentary from Thomas Riedelsheimer shadows renowned sculptor, Andy Goldsworthy, as he creates works of art with ice, driftwood, leaves, stone, and dirt and snow in open fields, beaches, rivers, creeks and forests.  With each new creation, he carefully studies the energetic flow and transitory nature of his work.

The film won the Golden Gate Award Grand Prize for Best Documentary at the 2003 San Francisco International Film Festival.  90 Minutes.  Discussion follows film.

  • The Spirit Vine Listeners will be available after church services for a one-on-one talking/listening session for anyone who needs an ear or support for whatever may be happening in his or her life.  You will find a Spirit Vine person outside the meditation room after the service for this purpose.  This idea and request came from several of those people attending the "Who are We and Where are We going " forum a few weeks ago.  Thanks for the suggestion.
