April 3, 2013
Greetings!
"Would that you could live on the fragrance of the Earth, and like an airplant be sustained by the light.
But since you must kill to eat, and rob the newly born of its mother's milk to quench your thirst, let it then be an act of worship.
And let your board stand an altar on which the pure and the innocent of forest and plan are sacrificed for that which is purer and still more innocent in man...."
From The Prophet by Kahlil Gibran...On Eating and Drinking.

This Sunday (10:30am Service)
"Ideas Don't Transform People, Practices Do!" By: Marc Anderson
 | |
Marc Anderson
|
Marc will be talking about the importance of being intentional about practices that nourish our well-being and development. Healthy practices heal us personally and sustain the community.
It is through our ability to listen closely to our intuition and the needs of the community that we know what practices are important and how to incorporate them in life so that they are sustainable and balanced.
..........
Bio: Marc Anderson is a Zen Buddhist Priest who is also a sought after professional percussionist in the Twin Cities. He is bringing mindfulness programs into the public schools as well as leading meditation/drumming practices in a number of locations in the Metro area. Marc has been a practitioner of meditation for over 30 years. His immersion both as a consummate musician and in Zen meditation, allows Marc to speak to both sides of the brain in engaging ways. Come and experience a journey of mindfulness, music and meditation.

Next Sunday - Living the New Creation
 | Mel Duncan on Right
|
April 14th, 10:30 - 11:30
By: Mel Duncan
The Spirit of Creation is seamlessly within and around us. In these times of great peril, we are called to accept our roles as co-creators in this world. Hear how people from around the world have stepped forward as nonviolent peacekeepers to protect civilians caught up in war. Together they are transforming the way the world deals with violent conflict.
Bio: Mel Duncan is one of the founders of the Nonviolent Peaceforce. His vision began when he went to Nicaragua with the coffee/cotton brigades during the Contra war in 1984 and saw that villages were not attacked when foreigners were present. Today, these many years later, the Nonviolent Peaceforce consists of peacekeepers from all over the world who live and work in communities affected by violence. They engage directly with armed actors to reduce violence by building trust and confidence among all the Parties...creating safe spaces for local solutions to conflict.

MOVIE NIGHT
Friday, April 5th from 7:00-9;30pm
"NUMEN"
This is a documentary focusing on the healing power of plants and the natural world. Filmmakers Terrence Youk and Ann Armbrecht traveled the US to speak with doctors and herbalists, ethnobotanists and others about how our disconnection from nature affects human and environmental health. They also sought to discover how healing is made possible by embracing our place in the wider web of life.
Featuring stunning footage of medicinal plants and moving interviews, Numen provides viewers with a new vision of medicine and offers concrete steps to improve individual health and well-being that also enhance the health of the earth. 95 Minutes. Discussion follows the film.
Free Popcorn!
A suggested donation of $5.00 is appreciated.
