Last Sunday
The Heart Beat of Freedom
By Rev. Ron Moor
Rev. Ron presented a multi-faceted view of what "freedom" has meant throughout the ages and how, in our world of duality, simply defining the word "freedom" creates by elimination that which is not free.
He challenges us to live without judgement by going forward in appreciation for what is - without label or definition - accepting the feelings we receive and expressing the appreciation we feel.

Remembering Dr. Assante's Events
At Spirit United
February 3 through February 10
February 3: Dr. Assante delivered a compelling and freeing Sunday message about the immortality we all share as human beings, whether here on this earth or in the afterlife.
February 3: Dr. Assante attended the Spirit United book study group after the service where she answered questions about her book and her personal experiences with "death" and the "departed".
February 6: Dr. Assante lectured to 70 attendees about her original research concerning the Ancient Near East temple practices and, more specifically, about the goddess Inanna. She showed how the historical patriarchal view of Inanna, as the goddess of prostitution, was mistaken and had no basis in the period writings. Message: "Women, take back your power."
February 8: Dr. Assante talked to approximately 150 people who came to hear her speak on her recently published book, The Last Frontier. She highlighted many of the concepts found in her book but also answered questions from the audience, leaving those attending totally in awe of who we really are and what unbounded potential we have as human beings.
February 9: Workshop I - Dr. Assante discussed the inner senses that serve as the underlying basis for our 6 physical senses. According to Dr. Assante, the departed never lose their inner senses. As a result, we are able to intentionally comunicate with them as we tap into and develop our own. She lead many experiential excercises which gave us a taste of working with our inner senses to test our psychic ability, to experience our ability to act as a medium and to affirm our ability to communicate (and KNOW we have communicated) with those we wish to reach in the afterlife.
February 10: Workshop II - Dr. Assante helped those present go through various death experiences...one traumatic, one peaceful and one related to this life. In the latter, participants were encouraged to look down upon themselves during the death experience and determine whether there was anything undone in our present lives that needed attention, reminding all present that it is not too late to change our history now.
All pictures illustrating Dr. Assante's events, from February 8 - 10, were taken by Lorrain Hecht. |

Book Study
Please Come if You Attended
Dr. Assante's Events or Are Currently Reading the Book
Sunday, February 17 - 12:30 to 2:30pm
To ground the experiences obtained by working with Dr. Assante in the workshops, and to share them with others, any of those who attended Dr. Assante's workshops and who wish to discuss their experiences, shifts or insights, are welcomed to the book discussion group on Sunday after the service.
This discussion of the book's concepts and people's actual experiences with the concepts will add a wonderful overlay to help the community better understand the depth and richness of the information brought to us. |

THOUGHTS ON LOVE
from Kathleen O'Donovan
L-O-V-E! This week we're all invited to attend to this beautiful idea. The calendar has nudged me towards thinking about our Mother's love for Her creations. What is the 'texture' of Divine Love in our lives today? How is it woven into our habituated patterns? How do we express gratitude for this infinite gift? Here are a few words we might bring into our sacred time this week:
O Mother of Endless love,
May your tenderness move me into new dimensions of being and doing.
May love begin with me so I might share it generously with others.
And may the light of Your love for me illuminate these gray days of February and fashion my heart into a designer's cosmic Valentine.
May each of you be our Mother's agent of boundless love, especially on the 14th. |
|
Please send me your poems, stories, book reviews, pictures, photographs, jokes, restaurant reviews, interesting snippets etc.

Spirit United Matters
- Just a reminder that there are people in our community who are greatly affected by perfumes and the strong scent of essential oils. Please have consideration and refrain from using those items before a service or class.
- New Members' Class will be held on March, 10, following the service. The prospective New Members' joining Ceremony will take place on March 24th during the scheduled service.
- As promised, the community will have two opportunities to imagine what Spirit United can be in the future through participating in both the the planning session for the "who are we and where are we going" forum on March 24th and by participating in the forum itself. Those interested in working with the planning group are asked to meet in the Kids With Spirit room after church on February 24th from 12:15 to 3:30.
- Feed My Starving Children will be featured on TPT Channel 2 next Sunday, at 8am and 2pm on TPT MN and at 12pm on TPT Life. To better understand the charity to which we are tithing and to fire up for our visit there, please tune in.
