December 19, 2012
Greetings!
It's almost here. Winter Solstice 2012. The big event. I know I am feeling more than a little challenged this year. How about you? I have had enough change for awhile, yet I know more is coming. That simply is what "is" these days.
I am so very grateful for our community of United Spirits. It is a place, a very good place, to go when I need to share, when I need to morn, when I need to find some loving kindness and when I need to hear other perspectives that help me make a reality check. It feeds me, and I hope it does the same for you.
Our schedule is extra full through for the rest of this year. We will be gathering for THE SOLSTICE this Friday, 7:00 PM, when we will drum and chant and pray and wonder together...wonder what Spirit has in store for this little blue green planet of ours. Whatever that might be, we have a community with whom to share and process it.
On Sunday the 23rd our own Ellen Swanson, supported by James Schattauer, will grace us with movement and meaning as we explore the power and presence of Love on our last Sunday of Expectancy. You will be touched. We gather again on Christmas Eve at 4:30, when Brenda Adams, Kathleen O'Donovan, and Bettie and Dale Seitzer lead our candlelight service through carols and story.
There is more, so much more. Our last School Sunday of the year will happen on the 30th and we have arranged a special Saturday presentation on the first weekend of the New Year. So keep watching the calendar and this newsletter. Together we not only survive, we thrive.
Holiday Blessings,
Ron

 LAST SUNDAY'S SERVICE
THE TIME IS NOW...JOY
Carol McCormick, supported by James Schattauer, shared stories and spiritual practices of faith, hope, gratitude, service and forgiveness. To hear her uplifting message....CLICK HERE.
A poem was read as a group to honor the fallen in the Connecticut shootings, and many of those present remained after church to process their feelings together in Community.

WHIRLING MOMENT
© Ellen E. Swanson 1995
Once upon a time, long long ago,
For a fleeting moment
I knew.
I knew
For a fleeting moment,
That creating was sacred -
A Process.
I knew for a fleeting moment,
That my body was a privilege
Not a commodity.
I knew
For a fleeting moment,
The Divinity of the Feminine...
Whirling humanity back to Source.
I glimpsed
For a fleeting moment,
The consciousness of an ascending Union...
Whirling humanity back to Source.
I fathomed the depth
I soared to the height
In that fleeting moment.
Then - Along came "Jones".
Big walking, big talking
Jones.
The Jones of my father and forefathers
Burned
The bones of my mother and foremothers
Whirling humanity away
Away from the depth
Away from the height
Away from the sanctity of the Union.
The lost has been found.
Oh tears! Through you
The tainted has been cleansed.
Oh anger! Through you
The external has been purged.
Oh persistence! Through you
The internal has been recognized.
Oh Love! Through you
The Eternal has been born
Again
Whirling humanity back to Source.
Whirling humanity back to Source.
