LAST SUNDAY'S SERVICE
November 11, 2012
By Rev. Ron Moor
MISSING IN ACTION
With approximately 80 people in attendance, the community passed the Sacred Medicine Pipe, each person infusing it with his or her own prayer. The prayers were then released to the six directions as Rev. Ron smoked the pipe in ceremony on behalf of all present.
The Sacred Medicine Pipe Ceremony was a rich and meaningful manner in which both to remember those who have served this country and to send prayers for peace and harmony throughout the world...and beyond.
Because a major portion of the service was contemplative meditation, we made no recording of this service. |

MANDALA CLASS:
A "KNOW THYSELF" EXPERIENTIAL
November 17, 2012 and Dec. 8, 2012
Facilitated by Ellen E. Swanson
It is difficult to visualize the circular embrace of your own essence in this linear society, but this model invites us to balance our seemingly singular focus on the linear with the contributions of the circular, as symbolized by the Mandala image to the right, copyrighted by Ellen E. Swanson in 2011.
In this class you will:
~ Be guided by your inner genius, regardless of your stage of self-knowing, to "know Thyself".
~ Learn a new method to reunify "you" by utilizing a visual model through which to embrace yourself, both consciously and unconsciously.
Investment: $35. Each person will receive a mandala template and the fundamental principles necessary to apply it to self. Class involves individual work and Group Discussion. |
Spirit United's Book Study Group Meets This Sunday, November 18, 2012 from 12:00 - 2:00.
The Study Group is reading Julia Assante's new book, "The Last Frontier", about which Larry Dossey, MD, warns that if the book ..."does not take your breath away, it should, for it upends nearly all of the assumptions in life that we unconsciously take as hard facts. Assante shows [in The Last Frontier] that the two major signposts we errect in life - birth at one end and death at the other - are not absolute, one-time events but transitions in states of being."
Ms. Assante, PhD, is a mystic, a scholar and a talented psychic. She has been a professional intuitive, medium, and past-life therapist for over four decades, offering workshops throughout the United States and Europe. She has taught at Columbia University, Bryn Mawr and the University of Munster (Germany).
Ms. Assante will be in the Twin Cities in February 2013 promoting her book. Because of her long-standing friendship with Rev. Ron, she has offered to extend to do a workshop and readings for the members and friends of Spirit United and the greater community who have an interest.
During her 10 day stay in the Twin Cities, Spirit United will be honored to have Ms. Assante as its special guest.

ANNOUNCEMENT | |
Regarding
School Sunday Vote
If you were at the School Sunday in October or our service on November 4th, you were asked to share your opinion about holding an additional School Sunday each month.
Because some have requested more School Sundays, the Spiritual Practices Committee wanted to get a feel for how wide-spread the interest was.
We are currently exploring options and possibilities, and we welcome the input of our community.
The Council of Stewards is planning a Second Sunday Forum in March to seek community help envisioning the direction of our community.
In these times of rapid change and challenge, we must evaluate where we are and where we wish to be with respect to what is useful and relevant for this community as we ourselves evolve individually and as a community.
Join us in March to help shape our future. |
