ANNOUNCEMENT | |
regarding
School Sunday Vote
If you were at the last School Sunday or our most recent service, you were asked to share your opinion about holding an additional School Sunday each month.
Because some have asked, the Spiritual Practices Committee wanted to get a feel for how wide-spread the interest was.
We are currently exploring options and possibilities, and we welcome the input of our community.
The Council of Stewards is planning a Second Sunday Forum in March to seek community help envisioning the direction of our community.
In these times of rapid change and challenge, we must evaluate where we are and where we wish to be with respect to what we offer to you and to our greater community.
Join us then to help shape our future.

Greetings!
And while I stood there
I saw more than I can tell,
and I understood more than I saw;
for I was seeing in a sacred manner
the shapes of things in the spirit,
and the shape of all shapes as they must
live together like one being.

This Sunday's Service ~
Sunday, November 11, 2012, 10:30am
MISSING IN ACTION
by
REV. RON MOOR
What is missing in action on this Veteran's Day is peace: peace in our hearts, peace in our world. On November 11 we will come together again as a community and pray for peace. Honoring the spirituality that arose from this land of Turtle Island, we will speak, pray, and sing for peace in a ceremony and sharing of THE SACRED MEDICINE PIPE.
We will also honor our veterans by joining our energies and voices together in music by James Schattauer. Following the ceremonoy we will celebrate our community with our Fall Festival.
It is a good day to be together.

Last Sunday's Service:
Finding a Pathway
By: Linda Bergh
In her soft and gentle manner, Ms. Bergh relayed her story of the tragic death of her daughter and how she has managed to maintain connection with her in a manner honoring the passing instead of grieving it uncontrollably forever. She demonstrated the blessings that may be hidden in loss for all who care to remember in a different way. Music was by the Morning Star Singers (above), who volunteer to sing in hospitals and hospice centers when called to bring the peace and comfort of their music. Again, we apologize that we have no recording of the service to post here. We are working on the audio problem. Thank you for your patience. |

MANDALA CLASS:
A "KNOW THYSELF" EXPERIENTIAL
November 17, 2012 and Dec. 8, 2012
Facilitated by Ellen E. Swanson
It is difficult to visualize the circular embrace of your own essence in this linear society, but this model invites us to balance our seemingly singular focus on the linear with the contributions of the circular, as symbolized by the Mandala image to the right, copyrighted by Ellen E. Swanson in 2011.
In this class you will:
~ Be guided by your inner genius, regardless of your stage of self-knowing, to "know Thyself".
~ Learn a new method to reunify "you" by utilizing a visual model through which to embrace yourself, both consciously and unconsciously.
Investment: $35. Each person will receive a mandala template and the fundamental principles necessary to apply it to self. Class involves individual work and Group Discussion. |

THE TYRANNY OF EXCESS,
THE FREEDOM OF JUST ENOUGH
by Ellen Swanson
Join Ellen for an evening of interpretive dance based upon our society's trend toward more, bigger, and excessive.
Using what she calls TranscenDance, Ellen offers the audience content supported by Anne Wilson Schaef's, Living in Process, and Mark Nepo's The Book of Awakening, as well as Mother Theresa, Jane Goodall, and others...selections range on a continuum from fun to serious, riduculous to sublime, irreverent to reverent, disgusting to delightful.
All are invited to contribute to a discussion about their feelings and thoughts evoked as a result the words, song and dances presented. The session is free, but donations for snacks and refreshments are gratefully accepted.
