Historic Feats: The Prince Nursery, also known as the Linnaean Botanic Garden, was the largest nursery in New York. Founded in 1737 by Prince Robert, it operated for 130 years right in Flushing and contained more than 4,000 species and varieties of fruit and native plants. By the middle of the 19th century, Prince Nursery was the largest establishment of its kind in the US. Today you can visit the Queens Botanical Garden (43-50 Main St., Flushing; queensbotanical.org; 718-886-3800) to enjoy native and international species, learn from expert horticulturalist how to create your own floral displays at home, and join an event.

April 27, 11 am- 6pm. 4th Annual Arbor Festival: Enjoy a petting zoo, live music, face painting, tours, food and craft vendors, consultations with tree and compost experts, and a beer tent!

Good Eats: One of my favorite seafood restaurants is London Lennie's (63-88 Woodhaven Blvd., Rego Park; londonlennies.com; 718-894-8084). I have always been a fan of their delicious lobster, shrimp and fresh oysters dishes that leave my taste buds satisfied every time I visit. Their big event is Crawfest (Festival of Cajun Crawfish), held this year from Monday, April 28, to Friday, May 9

I have also come to love dim sum, small bite-sized dumplings served in steamer baskets...

Unique Treats: Liberty Avenue in South Richmond Hill is known as "Little Guyana" for its large Indo-Guyanese immigrant community. Mithai, my favorite sweet treat can be found at the Little Guyana Bake Shop (116-04 Liberty Ave.) or any Guyanese bakery. It is candy made of flour, condensed milk, coconut and sugar. I would never try to make it myself, but here is the recipe...
