Web Service - Voice, Text and GPS Services

Driver Web Station Add-Ons

We are looking at add-on applications to your web service station device that give you a more complete driver information center. 

  • Voice
  • Text
  • Vehicle Location
  • Vehicle Location History
We are testing several services and will send out updated newsletters as results are finalized.  If you start a trial, please contact live support and we will assist you as needed.

Voice Services  

We are recommending adding on service providers to the Web Service station tablet that support voice communication between drivers and office, like the good old days of side band radio and walkie-talkies.

  

Alternatives 

Both have the potential to eliminate phone cell service for the driver and still maintain voice communication, and offer a  free trial. To date, the results are very positive.  Zello offers excellent voice and texting, while ESChat expands to vehicle location and vehicle location history. (In a trusted driver environment only.)  
 
Cost savings by replacing smartphone cellular service can be big, and you get  improvement in communications between office and drivers.

Open Issues
These items are still being reviewed and we have no recommendations at this time.
  • Hands-Free operation
  • Usage on data plan (Est. 1 GB per month)
  • Talk and hear in a noisy environment
    • Blue tooth connectivity to vehicle speaker
    • Noise suppression
  • Access away from vehicle

GPS Services  

We are reviewing several "GPS" tablet-based services that meet entry-level tracking requirements.  If you have a "trusted driver pool",  and are looking for:
  • Current vehicle location - live location
  • Bread crumb audit of historical vehicle location
these may be the right answer for your company.  

All of these services are not hardened for production level tracking in a non- trusted environment.  We strongly recommend  Insight Mobile Data for GPS Vehicle tracking and fleet management:

 Tablet-based services are limited in that drivers can:
  • Easily turn service off or block recording
  • Switch vehicle identification that is reporting
  • Require your active review when comparing planned to actual
