 PCI Compiance -Paying Attention
Paying Attention

Today I received a forwarded email from a merchant who wanted to know if they had to do their PCI Compliance work.  I confess I kind of rolled my eyes, and prepared the standard "yes, you have to do the work. Everyone does..." response when I noticed that they had been spammed by a compliance provider!  

If you see one of these emails, check who they are from:

There was nothing wrong with this spam email.  The provider was a legitimate company,  just like people who contact you wanting any other piece of your business.  And if you do your compliance with them, it is not a problem.  

Here is the downside:  If you use a separate company, you have to report your compliance to your processor - that is not something they will take care of for you.  You also have to track when you did it and renew your compliance on your own.  You won't get any  reminders from your processor that your compliance is expiring.  Also, if they want to increase the price, you don't have your processor  (and your processor's clout) to intervene on your behalf.  Basically,  you are on your own, and that isn't a place you want to be in the credit card world!

 Driver's Web Service Station Updates

The Clear Computing web station elves were busy again putting in the features you've asked for

Here are our most recent updates to the driver's web station:

Service Routes: 
  • Notification of overdue payments. If a site total due is greater than the credit limit on the site, a * is placed before the site name in the route list. Driver can take appropriate actions as per your company policies.
  • Driver can change a stop number by clicking on the stop number if it is underlined (click-able). If the driver does not have permission (set up is determined by the company), the stop number is not underlined. We suggest the back office renumber stops by any interval i.e., 3,5,10, so drivers can change to a number between two stops.
  • Units can now be accessed from service route list.  Unit count can be clicked on service route list page or site details page to manage a set of units for a site. Options include: set GPS location of unit and enter production tracking (date and time) of service.
  • Service route green arrow refresh delay has been removed, speeding up the refresh.
  • Viewing site details page is faster.
Work Orders:
  • Work orders can now be edited directly from work order list page, to change work order status or details.

  • F5 Service Dispatch - Response time is now < 3 seconds for display of service routes
  •  F9 - Driver reporting does full costing of completed service stops
  •  Po number expanded for customer format invoice
  •  Credit card processing enhanced to display summary of transactions completed
  •  Google Maps subscription service as an alternative to Bing maps will be available the week of 4/28/2018
  •  Template invoices for quoting.  Create invoice and assign as Template and populate PO number with description. You can create, on any site, a duplicate of this template for quotations.

Ouch!
A man was in a terrible accident, and his 'manhood' was mangled and torn from his body. His doctor assured him that modern medicine could give him back his manhood, but that his insurance wouldn't cover the surgery since it was considered cosmetic. The doctor said the cost would be $3,500 for 'small, $6,500 for 'medium, and $14,000 for 'large.' 

The man was sure he would want a medium or large, but the doctor urged him to talk it over with his wife before he made any decision. The man called his wife on the phone and explained their options. The doctor came back into the room, and found the man looking dejected. 

'Well, what have the two of you decided?' asked the doctor. 

'She'd rather remodel the kitchen.'
